Today I ascended from the church of St. Kancijan at Vrzdenec to Kožljek and Koreno. On the path there was about 5 cm of new snow, which higher up was drifted into snowdrifts.

Yesterday my wife and I ascended from Vrzdenec to Samotorica and then to Koreno. At the top it really blew along the ridge, so we didn't linger much and took the road down to Samotorica and then left down to Vrzdenec. Attaching some photos Lp Borut

Afternoon trip to Koreno 725m was just right, given the thunderstorm forecast. Up I rode (MTB) through Dolenja vas, direction Polhov Gradec to Prosca river valley. At pass 425m turned right onto gravel all the way to top of Koreno. From Ljubljana one way 22km, 1:20h. Up top some clearing, east at Kamniških already brewing hard. Strong easterly blew, so on way back (downhill ride) barely got home, like ascent to Krim. Karavanke practically snow-free from south, Kamniške still holding snow on Dolcev and Podov plateaus, Grintovec roof will be bare soon. LMTBp-Rok

Tomorrow I plan to go to Kožljek. Interested (if anyone knows) what the conditions on the path are or if there is much snow.

Some family members haven't been on Koreno for a long time, others never, so let's go. Vrzdenec known for Cankar's mother Neža and memorial hike from Vrzdenec to Vrhnika, which wasn't in December either... So start in Vrzdenec, notice new statue of Neža Pivk memorial, nice. Past Železnik farm where accordions are made, beautifully kept, seen it several times. Friendly dog greets us. By church sv. Kancijan up, start of path to Samotorica and Kožljek. At church on Samotorica view opens to Ulaka and Krim. Continued path to junction and up to chapel. What view they have, gorgeous, part Košuta, Storžič and large part Kamniških. Also Polhograjci on the palm... Another 10 min and we were on top of Kožljek, likewise nice panoramic. Maybe could go left to Koreno but not sure, so continued on marked path back to junction then on snowy forest path to Koreno. Nice, leisurely, through snowy landscape. Here quite some nice terrain for sledding. On Koreno special cattle awaited us, surely shaggy ones have special name. Descent to Horjul, had two options. First up top very icy, so chose second and got to steep path also quite frozen, better put on crampons. On descent to Graben noticed beautiful wooden house one wouldn't refuse. At end in stream, finale four ducks... behind us nice day, 12 km, 570m ascent. Sunday from cloudy to clear sky and satisfaction over done trip.
