Today on the descent from Stol, Dušan and I climbed from Stol's col along the ridge to Krkotnik 2116m. The path follows the ridge, a bit left and a bit right, you need some sense of orientation. The path itself is unmarked and unprotected. Since we were a bit limited by time, we ended the ascent at the mentioned summit, from where there's a nice view on the neighboring Celovska Spica and on the north face of Stol. LP Andrej

Today from Ljubelj via Zelenica towards Stol. A bit below Stol's col I leave the marked path towards the col and then right along the ridge. For the harder parts I mostly bypassed on the north side but still had to climb a bit. The views from the summit were really beautiful today. The way back mostly followed the same path but I turned down from the ridge a bit earlier via a scree gully.

After a long time back in Karavanke. I drive on a very nice road to Valvazorjevo and park there. Since the backpack was light, I reach Prešeren in a good hour and a half, drink tea (1.80€), hang wet clothes and head towards Orlica. That's the name of the ridge between Stol and Belščica saddle. The ridge starts with two unnamed, indistinct crumbly summits (which I of course skipped), followed by a single rocky mass, whose first, higher part is Krkotnik, the second, slightly lower part is Celovska Spica. On the other side of the deep saddle there's also Jelenčka, which I didn't go to. The rocks are compact, so the climbing is excellent, unfortunately very short. After descending from Celovska Spica I climbed back to Stol via the marked path. An experienced mountaineer doesn't need any additional gear for this trip. As always, some photos follow.

With a buddy I'm thinking of jumping from the direction of Stol also to Krkotnik, maybe even to Celovska Spica (but not further, would turn back there) I read descriptions, look at photos, but can't quite form an impression - is it light scrambling (e.g. I., max II. grade), nothing that an experienced hiker, off-trail enthusiast with normal fitness and motor skills couldn't manage without issues... or is it more than that?

The thing is short, doesn't exceed II, in dry rock you shouldn't have problems. Of course caution is never too much. Good luck!
