Krvava peč below Pirčeva planina

I've noticed Krvava peč below Pirčeva planina many times while driving over Črnivec and it was time to go explore a bit. I parked in Krivčevo and walked along the road to the Žaga hamlet, where I turned right off the road onto the marked path towards pl. Kisovec over Strmina. A really nice, slightly overgrown trail led me into the steep slopes of Krvava peč and soon sucked me into this attractive world. At a suitable spot, by a rock cairn, I left the markings and headed steeply up searching for a passage to the ridge. I quickly realized it wouldn't be entirely easy. The slope in the steep grass was becoming brutal, up to 80°. Luckily there were enough saplings that served well for the ascent. Some adrenaline climbing on steep heights made the sense of time disappear and it felt like eternity until I climbed onto the ridge. The view ahead was promising and wild and the thought that maybe the terrain wouldn't let me through wasn't pleasing. I climb and step carefully, observe and watch out. When I step onto the overgrown head of the ridge, I'm out of trouble. Yay! I finish the ridge exactly at the stone with Žaga written on it, from where it's just a moment to the planina. Great! On the planina I turn right to the viewpoint with a bench, where I munch a bit and let thoughts about life slip through. What all should we be grateful for!? What all do we have to give up?!... From here I continue along the road to the next planina and already thinking about descent towards Krivčevo. After pathless wandering through the forest I catch the marked path and start descending. At the abandoned farm I turn right across the meadow, back towards the peč, to the edge where I previously spotted a traverse carved into the slope from the ridge. I head into it right away and traverse for a while, to the spot where the chain helps. There's a special place there, so I sit and enjoy the solitude, leaving the continuation of the hunter's path for next time. I return and descend to the starting point along the picturesque path following the markings. Short and really sweet, for forest alpinists! I'll come back, thanks!

A couple of years have passed, today back to the world below Pirčeva planina, but this time with the wild addition of Velika. We park in Krivčevo, then from Žaga up the old path. The area here was changed by the last major flood, but the path is still well passable and traceable. When higher up the path turns right upwards along the ridge of Krvava peč, we head onto it. Still steep, still demanding, still beautiful. The ridge isn't too long, but it's beautiful and fragrant. The rock is mostly good. Pleasurably we step onto the marked path below Pirčeva planina. The day has just properly started, so we continue. Over Curlo and Kačjek, along the century-old path to Skledčka, from where steeply up towards Gradišče.....but that's a completely different story. All the best!

A trip to Pirčev vrh three weeks ago sparked my desire to return to these steep slopes. After returning home, I sat down in front of the map and sketched out where to go next. I didn't dare hope for company, since my housemate had already been on the ridge of Krvava peč. That he was interested for the second time gave additional hope for an interesting tour. The little ridge offered some harder passages and beautiful views. On the former marked path, we ended up right below Pirčeva planina and strolled along the "stubble four-lane" to the passage in the fence, which took us down from the gentle and safe Mala planina into the mad world of ragged and steep slopes overgrown with forest and grasses. The latter are still quite dry at this time of year and serve as poor holds, requiring unwavering faith that you can do everything "on your feet" (like on slabs) and if that doesn't work, that even dry grass blades hold and withstand your weight. At first, on Curli, we caught some very trodden path that soon disappeared. Then we encountered here and there some little cairns in the form of "one stone on a rock," and when those vanished and the terrain became less forgiving in terms of orientation and technically, we were each captain of our own ship—one wanted to go higher, the other lower. In the end, we navigated the stormy sea and even caught obvious remnants of the path several times. When we turned uphill before Skledčka, the real challenges of Velika planina finally revealed themselves, but we overcame those too with the help of stubbornness and sneaked back from solitude among the livestock that was enjoying its day among the gentians. The descent was merely a formality that, due to its ease, nicely concluded the day.

Hi, how happy I am with these words, not because of the congratulations, although I thank you nicely for them, but because I hope for some new j.'s adventure.
