Kucelj - 920 m

In the Škofjeloško and Cerkljansko hills there are not only the central peaks that we all know well - Blegoš, Tatitovec, Porezen and Lubnik, but many mostly lower peaks that few know. Suitable for spring or autumn rambling. Of course it must be dry. On Thursday the Škofjeloško retirees - Četrkovci headed to the 930 m high Kucelj. Gorenjci also have their Kucelj, not only Primorci. We drove to Studor village. Not only Bohinjci have it - here too. To Kucelj leads a hiking-marked trail - blue circle with green center. From Studor village we don't get straight to this marked trail. One needs to know a bit these local unmarked, also poorly trodden paths. Avoided asphalt of course. Led us an experienced local mountain guide - also a bit off paths. At this time we won't damage these meadows. When we spot these circles no dilemma anymore, we are on the right path. Trail to this almost thousand-meter peak leads over two subpeaks - a bit down, a bit up. At the top of Kucelj even a bench and box for entries awaits us. Didn't check if there's a logbook and stamp in it. Then a bit of steepness also for down. We descend west to nice meadow. Now follows, at least for us followed, hike to Taverna Petra via Srednje Brdo village. More than an hour and a half we walked there. Didn't walk road through Hotavje, but above settlement leads path to this nice inn. Highly recommend!

The area around Kucelj above Kopačnica valley is really beautiful. Its best parts are if you ascend right from there. But we visited it yesterday from the direction below Blegoš, just so we return there as soon as possible.

We parked at the quarry before Studor village. We headed into the snow, following rare footprints for a while, which later got lost somewhere but reappeared higher up. Already in between we spotted a path to the left, which we returned on, so we made the lower part circular. Our path led over Jurežev vrh, but Velkavrh wasn't therenasmeh.
At the top I went to the forest edge, where the view spreads over open, snow-covered meadows called Makovci. The nicely sounding name means beautiful landscape too, as I just read today that this area is part of Natura 2000. Dreamy really, with nice views and lively bird flutter, which yesterday already sounded quite spring-like.

True, sometimes you don't need to go far to observe beautynasmeh.

Some of my photos from the trip Hotavlje - Studor - Kucelj - Srednje Brdo - Hotavlje.
The entire walked path is nicely passable and trodden.

Ločanka and Velkavrh, thanks for the idea.

Best, Tadej

Today we headed to Kucelj from Kopačnica, from there where it's most beautiful for menasmeh. Makovci offer the best charm to this little peak, and best views for admiring. We met only one hiker, exactly the one who visits this peak almost every day and was initiator of these hikes. To the top she brought a notebook years ago and diligently logged her entries thus encouraging others. Really beautiful world directing views mostly to Porezen, also to Ermanovec, Banjšice, Snežnik. Towards Julian Alps view reaches even to Kanjavec and Blegoš not hidden. Best was the view on it during descent on marked trail, somewhat different than usual.

Beautiful world where you hear birdsong and if lucky like us today, spot crane flyover, at least that's what we thoughtnasmeh. Maybe mistaken, seems a bit early for migrationnasmeh. Or maybe it was usnasmeh.
