Kurešček 826m (circular tour from Ig) From Ljubljana to Ig you can ride by bike; for those from farther away, suitable parking for the car can also be found (near the church or municipality in the center of the place). From there continue towards Kremenice; you can't miss the turnoff Cesta na Kurešček and Golo, the next one is at the end of the village Kremenice behind Sarsko and Klado; if you've already driven to Želimlje, then head towards the hamlet Suša so the tour isn't too long. From Ig to Kurešček there are several roads and bike paths; you can choose between less and "a bit less" busy ones. The steepness of the climb isn't excessive, the length of the ascent around 10-12 km neither, so this hill in the close vicinity of Ljubljana is quite a suitable target for the start of spring pedaling to loosen up. A bit below the summit there's a large restaurant, at the top an interesting and very visited pilgrimage church of St. Mary, Queen of Peace.

Lest anyone thinks they can refresh after the tough ascent in the inn on pic 4. They'll wipe their nose nicely. From my experience this "inn", officially named Dom na Kureščku, opens only when grapes grow on the willow. Meaning never. Whenever I was up there in the last few years, it was closed. I've been up several times. A few years ago it was different, then the tenants (owners?) changed and now it's as it is. Maybe someone will catch it open if they climb on the day of a church event at the top church. But then from my experience there's an unbearable crowd, so I'd personally skip the ascent to Kurešček that day. But on the back of the Dom (the one not seen on the pic) there's a tap, so you can try to fill the bidon. If lucky, the valve won't be shut.

Sunday was quite the right day for visiting Kurešček. Up top it was clear, all around clouds were starting. From Turjak we first steeply descended to the Pirman farm, then mostly on road continued to the top. The path is very nicely marked.

Today in our area cloudy and a bit of rain too. We decided for the nearby Kurešček. In Želimlje we parked at the church, then soon caught the marked path. Alone on the path in both directions. Lots of leaves on the ground rustling pleasantly while walking. No distant views, but we noticed several nearby beauties that usually don't stand out. At the hut on Kurešček very good strudel. Back at the car just before dark. Nice walk.

We parked in Želimlje at the church. The nicest part is the one with the cable, and there around we noticed the first forsythias. Wonderful views far around, highest peaks nicely snow-covered. Didn't meet anyone on the path. Path well trodden.

Saturday 13.3.2021, bike trip Ižanka, Ig, climb that seems endless, short descent and then steeply uphill again past the hut to the church. Cloudy and cold weather, moderate traffic on the road (or little, like half full or empty glass), at the church and in it all alone. Enjoyed the solitude and time to talk to myself, remember and wish, in short, to get things straight with myself. A bit below the summit on the way up I met some who were already returning, all on foot, on the way back some who were still ascending, also on foot. Weather forecast came true, when I returned to the capital, the sun shone in all its glory. Nice and pleasant day https://tubojan.blogspot.com/2021/03/kurescek-kolesarjenje.html

Today between showers and sun to Kurešček from Želimlje. Just below the summit caught a wonderful double rainbow, which was even much more beautiful live. Forsythia already blooming.

The route starts with ascent to Kurešček, where a wonderful view of the Church of Mary Queen of Peace awaited me, rising above the surrounding nature. Continuation through forest and gravel roads took me to Turjak, where I felt the energy and power of the forest flowing into every bend. But the real treat comes at the idyllic ponds in Draga valley. These wonderful wild treasures, where flora and fauna intertwine in genuine harmony, offer pleasant peace and relaxation – a real break from daily hustle. Watch the video and surrender to the feeling of freedom, exploration and inspiration offered by this cycling experience.
