Leather vs. Gore-Tex

I'm deciding between Adidas from Gore-Tex or leather. Leather ones are much cheaper.
But these are low hiking shoes. I would use them more for everyday use. For the mountains I have Planika leather gojzarje, with which I'm very satisfied.

Do you have any experiences, opinions?

Thanks!
Regards

If they don't have ...tex, you can use them only in dry. Already walking on wet grass they'll soak through.
Even though they are leather!

Oh, please. Leather with proper impregnation holds water far better than all membranes, and even without it would withstand walking on wet grass.
As for low hiking shoes, I'm skeptical that you can get leather ones that are also light and flexible enough, but what's written above just doesn't hold.

Over 30 years I used only low shoes or sneakers for mountains in dry conditions! When switching to ...tex membranes I arrived at tour starts with dry socks!
Of course doesn't apply to older footwear with damaged membrane.
Question was about experiences, opinions... and I presented mine. Probably didn't use "proper" impregnation before.nasmeh

dprapr, I agree with jax, I've been using leather Planikas since 1998, after each tour I clean them dry and grease them with fat containing beeswax (just for the feeling, years ago I greased them with plain pork fat), and it has never happened that they soaked through, not even on snow and not even when quite worn. It's important to grease them a few days before the tour so the fat absorbs and repels water and moisture, that's my experience mežikanje
