Yesterday I set off from Drežniške Ravne over planina Golobar towards Lipnik. In beautiful weather I climbed only to the saddle between Lipnik and some unnamed point; there is snow on the last hundred meters to the saddle. From the saddle to the Lipnik summit it's only a couple of dozen elevation meters, but the approach is too exposed in these snowy conditions for my climbing abilities. A well-maintained mulatjera leads below this saddle; given that the path isn't marked, it's somewhat ruined just below the saddle. Full praise to whoever maintains the path and eases our approach.

Next time I'll take a map with me; years ago someone from the locals told me that it was Lipnik and for me it has always been Lipnik.

(Veliki) Lipnik is in the background, a bit off the main ridge direction. From the saddle the path descends a bit (quickly in better condition than the last meters of ascent to the saddle), there again visible military remains and pitons from former cables. But there are at least three more approaches. On Srednja Špica there was a nest on the last visit, so better not go there. By the way, down here was the epicenter of the last Tolmin earthquake.

Srednja Špica is often called Mali Lipnik, and if an abbreviation comes into play, there's quick confusion. From there, probably the locals' variant.

Which animals nest on Srednja Špica?

I'm interested in the path from Lipnik to Vršič and then to Lepena. There is a path drawn on the maps, but once when I was in those areas I didn't find it because fog caught me on Krnčica and I didn't want to stray too much into the unknown. If someone knows the path, I'd be grateful for some information.
