Have you maybe been to Palec in winter before? Can one get there even if not exactly an alpinist?

If you're experienced with ice axe and crampons it won't be a problem, but watch out and follow snow avalanche reports. Otherwise I recommend summer season. Yes, I've been to Palec in all seasons

Where exactly does the path to Palec branch off? Is it at the end of a smaller scree or a bit further in the "forest"? About fifteen minutes from Zelenica towards Stol to the right? LP.

To the junction of the path towards Suho ruševje cirque and on to Palec and Zelenjak, we get from Zelenica in twenty minutes of moderate walking. The less visible trail branches off further in the forest where a large pine root grows over the path to Vrtača.

Today I walked the Ljubelj-Zelenica-Palec path. The path to Zelenica is almost entirely dry, snow starts at the turn-off where it turns onto Šentanski plaz. The snow was sufficiently frozen in the morning to hold, sinking perhaps 10 cm. The summit part of Palec is rocky. When crossing the gully be very careful. From Žleb onwards I recommend crampons, helmet almost essential.
