Loka Mountain Trail

The Loška mountain trail visits the highest peaks from Lubnik, Blegoš to Črni vrh above Novaki, it also goes through Polhograjsko hribovje, touches Idrijsko hribovje, crosses Cerkljansko pogorje and ascends to Ratitovški vrhovi, which are the extreme ridge of the Julian Alps.

IN MAY WE DECIDED TO HIKE THE LOŠKA TRAIL

We started at five in the morning in Škofja Loka. We knew the trail to Črni vrh, so we did that part without problems. Around Pasje ravni we had minor issues. Slightly bigger problems occurred to us in the Sivka area (here there are still the first, faded markings). Signposts that would show the direction of the trail and thus dispel doubts are also missing. We had the biggest problems around Smerečje. The marked trail led us to the top of the meadow (Laver), and there the problem arose. With the help of passers-by we got to the road; in the former barracks, now an inn, we treated ourselves to lunch. Then back to the signpost that marked the trail through Vesto into the forest. After arduous searching we returned to the road and used an "emergency call". A friend who was interested in how we were progressing saved us; he adjusted the signpost to the correct direction and also led us (to Tri kralje). A little later we reached the familiar trail (from the Žirovski trekking), so there were no more problems to Žiri. We also slept in Žiri. Second day early hour again. To Pri Jureču there were no problems, but there we got a hearty breakfast (thanks to them who took good care of us). Full and satisfied we continued nicely. Unfortunately, it started raining. At Likarju we experienced the heaviest downpour. We arrived at Bevkov vrh thoroughly soaked. Here we again spent some time looking for the right direction. An old farm saved us. We reached Hotavlje without major problems, there we restocked and continued. Again we encountered a very bad trail below Malenska vas, tall wet grass - nettles reached up to our heads. Well, onwards we were very attentive to the markings and managed to reach the church. Directional signposts and markings for the course of the trail are also missing here. We entered the forest and began descending, occasionally spotting some shy marking. On the steepest part of vlaka Romani slips. From an innocent slip it later turns out to be a broken ankle. Here our journey along the Loška trail ended. Thanks to the people who helped in "rescuing" the injured woman to the rescue vehicle. We will find another date for this trail, perhaps it will be better marked by then. LP. Romana, Janez

Hiked the Loška mountain trail four times. In several stages. Beautiful crossing from Stari vrh to Blegoš, or - once we went from Hotavlje via Davča to Porezen, descent to Cerkno or to Franja hospital. I highly recommend the trail! In the fifth booklet there are already some stamps...

Yesterday with Romana we checked the trail from Hleviše pass to Blegoš. At the beginning very poorly and insufficiently marked, when we entered the forest area it got a bit better, also because the trail sticks to the ridge and peaks. Our loop went like this. Hleviše pass, Brinje, Podvrh, Četena Ravan, Stari vrh, Mladi vrh, Koprivnik, Ramovec, Črni kal, Blegoš. Descent to Črni kal, continued on the road Gorenja Žetina to the car. Trail without snow and weather nice for such a trail. LP.

Gorenja Žetina, above the hayrack there is a guy in 3/4 shorts, 22 December.

From Suh dol to Koširja. Then also from Suh dol to the hut under the church three kings. The trail is nicely hikeable, no more snow, vegetation still sleeping.

Hotavlje, Čabreče, Gora, Stari vrh, Mladi vrh, Koprivnik, Ramovec, Črni kal and by road to Suša and further to Hotavlje. Mladi vrh and Koprivnik still have some snow.

But one should ask the markers or responsible people for LPP on certain sections of the trail. When do they plan to renew or update the markings (some places probably still have the first ones when the trail was marked. Some diligently renew. Now a lot of time is spent searching.

ŽIRI--HOTAVLJE

This time we had nice sunny weather. The trail has some new markings, like three years ago. Therefore, walking was pure pleasure, but really, we already knew this area.

Žiri - St. Thomas (Vrsnik above Žiri)

I practically never did the Loška mountain trail entirely, only its individual peaks interested me. Peaks above Žiri never came up. But yesterday Jože suggested exactly that, namely Vrsnik, which I heard about for the first time. Maybe today was really the right day for this part of the Loška trail, as the whole trip turned out very interesting. Snow, cold, wind were constant on today's trail.
