Lokovnikov Grintovec

In the morning the decision is made to check snow conditions at altitude around 1800m. I drive to Ljubelj, park there, then along the road past the hut, follows a few-minute descent on the road to the right branch and then immediately sharply right onto the border ridge. The path was frozen all the way due to low temperature and real knee-knocker right up to the ladder. Near the ladder there's a not at all pleasant bend, which is secured with a cable, but the path collapsed, shaky little bridge from rotten wooden poles..
Snow begins right below Dovjak Saddle. When crossing the wooden fence, where we stick to the marked path no. 650, suddenly snow up to knees, after a few meters descent to the Austrian side, when crossing the second fence there's snow up to waist in places suddenly and more. Sometimes it went on top since the snow was frozen, mostly sank quite above the knees. When crossing the northern slopes of Košutica, several small snow slides were triggered, which don't pose any obstacle. From the rock boulder somewhere in the middle of the slope to the saddle between Košutica and LG I do a test of keeping calm nerves and hold the curse at the tip of my tongue, as it sank deeper with every step. Well, right below the saddle the conditions calm down for a while. From here to the top it looks like a piece of cake, but alas, psych test again, soon the bushes became all denser, I start fighting with branches that hide the path, sometimes fall over waist into snow, thrash and thrash, sometimes it goes only under the bushes, I pant to the top wet, but literally wet, as the snow slowly started melting. At the top short rest and back the same path. Went faster, luckily sank only here and there and reach Dovjak Saddle in less than half an hour. The path from Grunta was the complete opposite of the morning one, muddy, squelched more with every step, the sun thoroughly softened the frozen ground. On the path I meet a ptarmigan, which dodges off the path at the last moment when I spot it, I think I would probably fare worse eek.
Descent on the path before the ladder is a real muddy slide, need to be really careful.
Follows only a short descent to the old road and ascent to the hut, where the keeper and some hikers surprise me.
By the way, I learn that the hut will "probably" be open all summer this year.
Already today about 25 hikers are supposed to visit it.

Can't you stay home one day?
Breaking through the scree under the summit is quite tricky. When there was no snow, I crawled more under it.
You caught the gentian well
cheers

I surprised the ptarmigan while it was sunbathing on Rjava peč cool, given that I was quite fast, I was lucky it moved away and I didn't step on it, otherwise I don't know how it would have turned out for me jezik

The path is described by Parkeljc... today weather-wise it was everything: from sun, clouds, hail, rain and wind... As for animals, mice prevailed... and two adders (obviously there will be plenty this yearjezen ) The path itself... fantastic... loves peace, flowers, a bit of adrenaline, snow replaced by bushes (very high and very stubborn right below the summit) and rock slide... which I escaped by a hair (just a reminder that this can happen too, what am I preaching now when I'm safe at homemežikanje ) Yes... to conclude... LG is a very interesting mountain... and almost forgot... with invaluable view of Košuta!

Lunca, I passed by here about a month ago, when returning from Košutica- up I went via Hanžkov Saddle and somehow didn't see the branch for Lokovnik Grintovec, although I had it planned that day, so I descended to the hut at Stari Ljubelj. With the keeper I had no luck, he had just driven off for drinks. But I did see some branch across that Austrian fence. Is that it?

Yesterday with the better group of retirees from the mountaineering society Škofja Loka I visited the little-visited Lokovnik Grintovec. We went to its completely overgrown summit via the Ljubelj border crossing. At the border of course the Austrians stop and check IDs-thoroughly. I had already tried alone to go to this summit from Planina Korošica via Košutica to Stari Ljubelj, but couldn't find the right path at all. Now I saw that it's much closer if we go from Planina Korošica to conquer the little-visited summit. So through the tunnel to Austria and to the starting point in the village-Sele- Upper corner at Malejeva sawmill-666m (Zell-Oberwinkel-Male). Back to Ljubelj to the camp where the bus was waiting for us, that's a good seven hours walk. Here we cross the main road and left onto the marked path through Hanjžev graben along Hanjžev stream, which has more status of a small river. The stream is extremely watery and forms rapids, small jumps, nice pools. We also reach the marked waterfall and view it up close. Along this stream there used to be lots of small mills long ago, which were apparently wooden and today there's no trace of mills or their devices. But they made some kind of life-size model of a wooden mill and we can view it. There's also a gauging station for the stream level. The path is nice along this gorge-no lack of little bridges, railings and passages of dangerous spots equipped with wood on the ground. When we exit the gorge we make a detour to farms Hornik-Mlečnik. Before the farm on the left bank they even have a small pond with inflow from a spring. Even fish swim in it. We return to path 650. Now about three sets of ascents await us on otherwise nice path. We reach a path junction, which directs left to Hajnževo sedlo, we go right to Dovjakovo sedlo. We reach the extensive Lokovnikova planina, where there's a spring. At this time there's quite a large herd of cattle on the planina. Past the completely new hunting lodge we go on to the saddle. We jump over the pasture fence and we're at the saddle. On the right our main goal Lokovnik Grintavec awaits. Now laborious bushwhacking on completely overgrown path through bushes awaits us. Without long pants and long sleeves we'll be badly scratched. Grintavec has a fore-summit and most of us stop there. Only a couple go to the second knoll, which is the main summit of Lokovnik Grintovec. Some waited at the saddle. Then left towards Planina Korošica. On this path we somehow walk under the foot of Košutica and already at Planina Korošica and via hunting path to Ljubelj. At the bend of the main road shortcut to the parking above the camp.

Within PD Škofja Loka two retiree groups operate. The Monday group takes somewhat easier tours, the Thursday group somewhat more demanding ones. In the society's activity program you can see where we plan to go. Pensioners have two tours planned per month. With the Thursday ones we even do one two-day tour. Last year, for example, Cres - it was unique.

I spotted it last year from the ridge path to Košutica. Which one is that lying in the shadow of Košutica, the much more visited peak?
Not much is written about it, hardly anything, most on these pages.
Yesterday on a nice autumn day, Lokovnikov Grintovec was the right choice.
Lonely summit, but excellent viewpoint.
Nearby peaks attract gazes, how could they not, dressed in autumn colors, from Grlovec to Ojstrec, nearby Hajnžev Praprotnik, also inviting.
Not only the summit was attractive, but the path to it under Košutica cliffs was yesterday a real feast of views. Triglav shone especially, as clarity first appeared there.

I wish everyone climbs this peak, gets to know it, looks around its area and admires more famous peaks from it.
And enjoys solitudenasmeh.

The brushwood has already softened too, it didn't bother me at all. I've pushed through worsemežikanje

Yesterday's crawling through brush to Lokovnikov Grintovec summit reminded me of that Avsenik song ending "even on bare knees I go after him, just to get my dear"nasmeh
Those going anyway, take machete or saw. Really overgrown since October visit.

You're quite right. Yesterday clouds traveled all day. Lots of work for them. Descent to Zadnjica hot as summer. Changed to shorts once no snow patches on mule track. Quite unusual for early June.nasmeh
