Looking for a hill for the inexperienced

Nice greeting!

I'd like to go to the hills with my girlfriend on Saturday. Neither of us is an experienced hiker, so I ask if you perhaps know any suitable hill? There are wishes, but they are not mandatory. It would be nice if the hill is no more than an hour from Ljubljana, walking time from one and a half to three hours, the path is well-trodden since neither of us has crampons or gaiters, and there is a wonderful view from the top nasmeh. Is there such a tour? We are both young and recreational athletes.

Thanks for any help! Best, a

Here's a super tour, with starting point at the hotel in Prvine and approx. 45 min relaxed walk to the hut on Čemšenika planina. And from the motorway exit for Izlake the starting point is quite close to the top of Trojan. http://www.hribi.net/izlet/prvine_crni_vrh_cemsenika_planina_/25/763/1374 winking

Hopsa amuk! Here you have suggestions for nice tours for half the winter.

I'd just like to comment. If you are really beginners and want to hike in the mountains this winter, then just get gaiters, because there will surely be snow. They're not that expensive.

As for Snežnik, I've been up there several times in winter and the last slope before the hut is usually icy and slippery. I was always without crampons, but would have been happy with at least chains there.

And fog is not for messing around in winter when everything is white. Everything looks the same and you can get lost quickly. A friend bivouacked in fog and snow on Vogel 10 meters from the chairlift tower. In fog he just didn't see it and rightly decided to bivouac rather than wander off. What you see as a cloud from the valley can easily be fog at higher elevations.

After a few nice tours it will probably hook you for good, and you won't be beginners anymore and will have gear too.

Happy hiking and lots of enjoyment!:velik nasmehnasmeh

Mountaineer's experience is a relative term and as such never guarantees a 100% safe tour due to unforeseen circumstances like weather, avalanches, own mistakes, health, momentary distraction etc. Of course, if we consider multiple factors that appear on the tour, unpleasantnesses on the tour with one's own preparation are thereby reduced to a minimum or smaller risk possibility.
Ultimately the most important is that the mountain visitor is aware of his knowledge and feelings acquired over the years, knows how to properly evaluate them and also put them in the appropriate light for the mountain tour and above all knows how to assess where his capable, safe limits are. The tour will only be nice if the mountaineer has things under control and knows how to earn the ascent.
There are quite a few nice tours in the vicinity of Ljubljana in Polhograjci and most are already well described and presented. Also the mid-mountains of the Julijci are well-trodden in winter like Blegoš, Porezen, Ratitovec, peaks above Soriska planina, Pokljuka etc. Also the mid-mountains of Karavanke are nicely accessible, also peaks of these in stable conditions as well as hills around Tuhinjska dolina, Kranjski rak, Jezersko, Trnovski gozd...
