Beautiful day, perfect for these two peaks. From Rudno polje along the road to the junction. Then along the track (a pair of legs) through the gully and right onto the wide ridge, and through the scree to the S wall of M. Selišnik. Over the wall a bit of climbing straight to the summit. Gorgeous view! Back along the ridge and descent to the south side and up by the wall, and along barely visible ledges through the bushes towards V. Selišnik. Across the scree to the saddle between the middle and large one, from there to the snowy ridge, and along it to the summit. Excellent tour for this time of year, just the right amount of snow so it's easier to walk back down, uphill not so strenuous. Except searching for passages through the scrub. Since we returned along the same 'path', the track is now well visible (until new snow). LP

We walked 6h. To Mali about 2h, just as much to Veliki. Since we got a bit lost in the brush under Mali (on ascent and descent), now that the path is visible it could be done faster. To M. we climbed directly over the J wall, easier if you go along the wall north to its end, where to the right above the brush a passage opens (a bit of climbing unavoidable). On Veliki Selišnik the summit ridge is snowy, so caution is needed not to slip over the north wall. But it's not that hard, because the brush kindly offers its numerous hands. on the ascent to Veliki we turned too far right to the ridge and then with a bit of climbing on it left to the top, if below on the gravelly meadow you turn right earlier the approach is much easier and shorter.(difficult orientation, better seen on descent). And one more thing: please don't curse us where we wandered in the brush under Mali S., because we probably completely missed the 'path' .

Nice tour, I got to the summit from the other side though. There I also had to scramble through the bushes but the summit rewards all the effort. I recommend it to all off-trail enthusiasts.

Yesterday I visited Veliki Selišnik. Compared to the crowded Viševnik, Selišnik is a very solitary peak. Quite steep towards the summit, so don't go without winter gear. Some snapshots

Where to go today for some adrenaline? Given the varied snow cover, I had little choice among partly off-trail tours . Let's see if it's possible (without too much trampling) over Kačji rob...to Viševnik (which is always "left over" ), I can still go there easily...and I went. Positive surprise already at Zlate vode , someone had walked there earlier with snowshoes. Without that "help" I would probably have turned back, as the section from the path junction at Zlate vode to the meadows below Kačji rob is the trickiest, but sinking in is quite manageable . The continuation is completely wind-packed, inflated drifts aren't longer than a few meters. In the valley behind Viševnik I stayed a bit higher left on almost bare ground. In places the snow holds surprisingly well for the kids. I got most buried just before the Selišnik ridge. The little ridge is great, just right snow, nice grade I, but need to watch the loose snow. As long as it creaks it's OK, on loose between rocky passages you don't know what's below , but no major problems. Super tour...today it offered just the right amount of Šodrovo ridge scrambling . If the weather holds tomorrow, recommend to experienced. Good luck.

Today I headed to both peaks, via Zlate vode first to Veliki Selišnik, then to Mali. Orientation-wise it seemed much easier, and there's a track made up to the junction for Zlate vode. From there the traces of predecessors were almost erased. But after my footsteps several skiers followed. Snow in the morning still held my weight, conditions almost ideal, only diffuse light bothered. After ascent to Veliki Selišnik I descended straight down towards Mali Selišnik. So much snow that route choice isn't hard at all, just straight down. Ascent to Mali Selišnik wasn't the easiest due to wet snow, but it worked out. Up to 1600m snow still held, then it started sinking to the knees. I closed the loop along the road to the ski area, there a bit of martincanje. For the ascent from the saddle to Veliki Selišnik I used ice axe and crampons. Without that don't go up there. LP Miro (camera clock still on winter time)
