Yesterday we climbed from home below Storžič to the little visited Mali Javornik, which is the neighboring peak of the more famous Ženiklovec or Veliki Javornik and Stegovnik. We descended to the window in Stegovnik and then returned to the starting point via planina Javornik. LP Esther and Tadej

Today I went from Volčja dolina to planina Javornik, then along the base of Ženiklovec to Mali Javornik. From the planina onwards, the path is still quite snowy, at certain spots it sinks almost to the butt. At the base of MJ snow almost disappears, so no issues on the ascent itself. Under the summit and on top occasional patches of snow. Otherwise very nice and especially solitary summit with wonderful view of Storžič, Stegovnik and Košuta.

Nothing has happened here for a long time. eek

Already in spring I hiked quite a few hills/hillocks in our municipality that I had never heard of before. Mali Javornik wasn't among them then. It came up on Sunday 01.11.20
I started a bit behind the village Grahovše and went past Dom pod Storžičem. The parking lot at the hut was pretty full, probably everyone went to Storžič. From Javorniški prelaz along the eastern path to Stegovnik (Mali Stegovnik isn't marked at Javorniški prelaz). I followed the description on hribi.net. The junction from the Stegovnik path is now marked, so really can't miss it. From the junction I was quickly at the summit. Views ... fantastic. All around. Mali Javornik is an unmatched viewpoint. Even Krn was visible in the distance.
Back I went via Planina Javornik. Really wonderful tour. Recommend.
