Mavrinc is a hill above the Velika Pišnica valley, located north of the more famous Visoki Mavrinc (Špica in Sedelci). On Saturday I wanted to set off from the parking lot at the 2nd hairpin of Vršiška road actually to the even closer Škrbinjek, but given the conditions I rather followed the track that took me towards the Za Kumlehom valley.

The mentioned track (or cart road) – which leads to a clearing near the hilltop, where it also ends – leaves it just a little below the mentioned summit, before crossing the stream gully.

In dry conditions it's an easy trip, no orientation problems even in snow – since we walk on a forest track right to the top – but it's different in snowy conditions with just walking. This Saturday the unpacked snow (50 – 60 cm along the path) "nicely" postholed, also the tracks (of two or three) predecessors often didn't hold my weight; snowshoes would have been a much more suitable piece of winter gear instead of the ice axe I took with me.. nasmeh
