Mixed route to M. Draški vrh

Today we headed out for a shortened tour to Pokljuka (colleague found out he has night shift, original plan was Viševnik, M. Draški, Ablanca, V. Draški, Tošc). From Rudno polje we climbed to Viševnik, which was almost collapsing under the mass of people, a couple of photos and onwards to M. Draški vrh. That's where it all started... "Come on let's go a bit right through that gully so we don't crawl on the path for nothing, and anyway we carried climbing gear in vain...", I heard behind me. OK, no problem. Before the saddle we turned right and walked a couple hundred meters to an isolated spruce. "Well, let's go direct", we both agreed. Snow conditions far from ideal, but once you bite, you bite! Steep mixed gully took us right of the summit. Through rocky steps and deep sinking snow we finally broke through to the top, celebration on top. Unconventional routes are a treat, I recommend to anyone capable of such. The effort was rewarded, another summit via mixed route, another success... Now peacefully to beer in the valley.
