Mlačca Gorge Climbing Area

After almost two weeks on sick leave I went out for the first time today. Namely just a walk to Mlacca near Mojstrana, where last weekend there was an ice climbing competition for the Humar memorial. There of course the Vukotič brothers from Bled shone again, among the girls Kosič from Jesenice. Today there were still quite a few climbers and female climbers despite the already quite battered ice that was crumbling well from the wall, and also some of us - spectators. I think the climbing opportunity (most likely) will be available only for a few more days..

Heinz, do you maybe know if it's possible to get around above the "wall"?

Before the start of the gorge or before the wall on the left side there is one path. Just don't go without crampons.

Two reasons: without the necessary equipment, and still with a bit of flu..(enough) that just doesn't work. YES, otherwise it's true: on the left one path goes up. That's obligatory anyway - to fix the ropes.

gregcs1 and what will you do above the wall, if I may ask..., if you think just for the thrill don't even think about it..., you have plenty of other paths for wandering

Probably he meant belaying from above (top rope). The same option is possible also on Palenk waterfall in Logarska and probably elsewhere too. Best, Jure

@Santi Nice wandering (also above the wall), and below it, and elsewhere... Besides, everything that stands at least somewhat was climbed. Climbing fun for another week, so hurry up.

Why do you ask such questions then if you know everything

Because I was in Mlačca for the first time yesterday. If I'd been there before, I probably wouldn't ask. Thank God there are still individuals who know how to answer the question asked and not just give useless advice. Well, every bad thing is good for something... Now at least I know who to turn to if I need hiking advice
