Monte Cernera is an excellent viewpoint, most easily reachable from the Passo Giau pass. This is quite remote from main roads, so we headed there straight from the Passo Falzarego pass. The path is, of course, longer, but comfortable, not strenuous at all and scenic. In short … for enjoyment nasmeh.

We left the car at the free parking next to the inn at the pass, on the opposite side of the road you already have to pay euros. We found the ridge path 441 towards Rif. Averau hut, from there followed path 452 to Giau pass. Right opposite Rif. Giau hut is a chapel with a bunch of signposts, all pointing the same way. We chose path 436 to Forcella di Zonia saddle, where there's also the sign *Monte Cernera via Normale*.

The well-trodden path branches right and initially crosses the slope quite gently. Already from here wonderful views of Nuvolau, Averau and Tofane. Some people came here just for photos of these views. We continued and soon reached a rocky step for passage to higher level. Some fixed protections help, nothing particularly demanding. Follows some comfortable path over grassy slopes, then another rocky step.

There we got a surprise … path closed. We looked surprised at the notice we hadn't seen anywhere before. Since we were right below the summit part, we went to check. On the more demanding rock passage the cable had torn off, but they fixed it already, admittedly a bit unusually velik nasmeh. And not the first time someone forgot to remove the closure sign.

Followed the summit part with countless paths. All lead to the top, best stick to the marked one. Followed a rest that lasted and lasted, mainly due to great views all around. Really worth coming here, just weather must match the views. Followed return on same paths, which were quite different from morning anyway. Where there was shade before, now sun, and path got completely different character. Great experience, we'll return nasmeh.
