Saturday, 15.9.2018 Starting point for the tour is the parking lot below the Piani del Cristo hut, which is on the road from Cima Sappada towards the Piave source. The path starts behind the hut and is marked with number 139. Along the forest road to the small hut, where the first sign for Chiadin is, and there we turn left. The path to the summit is gentle and extremely scenic, the slopes it follows are quite steep in places. When we reach almost the saddle between the east and west summits the path turns left and soon we spot the cross on top. Chiadin is an excellent viewpoint in all directions, Coglians, Peralba, Creta Forata, both Siers, Lastroni are just some of the more famous among many others. Descent is along the same path, circular tour unfortunately not possible. Since the tour is relatively short, measured in elevation meters and hours, after the hike it makes sense to drive to the nearby Piave source and check it out, and Sappada also has something to show. The tour is not demanding and I warmly recommend it. When larches turn golden, it can be the most beautiful. https://tubojan.blogspot.com/2018/09/monte-chiadin-cima-ovest.html

Beautiful hike. The signpost to Monte Chiadin is now located already at the very beginning by the hut. The path is sufficiently marked, in the upper part the marks are indeed rare, but the mule track could be unambiguously followed all the way to the summit. The path is comfortable, in the upper third you realize that you slowly ascend and comfortably zigzag in really long and really steep slopes. Although I personally had no feeling of exposure, you spend a lot of time on the narrow path that crosses the slope and together with the view of the overall steepness around it is an experience that might not be for those who are sensitive/unaccustomed to it in any way. The mountain is positioned so that you really see everything alive around it. turbo, thanks for the above description. I decided on Chiadin hastily after realizing yesterday evening that I forgot the guidebook for the Karnic Alps at home, and had to make new plans using the boards in Sappada (for beginners in this area they have super presented paths on the south and north), your description put the finishing touch that for the start we don't go into too much difficulty (according to the standards of all participants). My photos are in different shades than yours, the dog too.
