Monte Colombine - 2215 m

Over the years we've hiked a lot around Garda, but we still find something new and beautiful. We had to drive just a bit further this time, towards Lake Lago d’Idro and beyond. An exceptional day awaited us with stunning views and a circular trail as one could wish nasmeh.

We parked at Passo Dasdana saddle, almost 2100 m high. Despite the good starting elevation we were constantly going up and down on the path, so quite a few elevation meters accumulated in the end. We went clockwise, so we quickly climbed to the highest peak Monte Colombine. But that wasn't the only summit, far from it. Later we visited a few more and each was something special.

The initial ridge was followed by descent into a deep valley and visit to shelter Giovanni Grazzini. Italians call it bivak, but it's a whole house and moreover very nicely arranged. After a short break we continued and stepped into the main feature of these valleys. Water flows everywhere, everything is marshy. The ground is impermeable and water runs right over the surface. In many places one could take a shortcut, but due to terrain it didn't even cross our mind velik nasmeh. We especially watched the reddish colored vegetation, as mud was most abundant there and completely impassable with regular shoes.

So we slowly slogged to pasture Malga Ravenola Vaga and further to pasture Malga Ravenola Soliva, to this one also steeply uphill. Here the marsh finally retreated to a more solid base and a bit more carefree we stepped towards the next viewpoint, summit Punta dell'Auccia. This was followed by descent back to the road, soon also visit to longer ridge with summits Corno Setteventi and Punta Setteventi. Both are excellent viewpoints.

After long ridge walking came a long and strenuous descent into the next valley. The marked path loses itself in grasses here and several times we had to check GPS track. At the lowest point we crossed a watery stream and ascended to nice little lake Laghetto Dasdana. There are even fish inside, at the nearby hut inflated price list for potential fishermen. All private. Further on only ascent awaited us. First we panted to pasture Malga Laghetto, shortly after all the way to start.

But in the center of our loop there was another attraction we watched all day. That's the former NATO radar station for project ACE High communications system, standing on top of Dosso dei Galli. The station operated until 1995. Its purpose was quick response to possible air attacks and it was just a piece of the extensive European network. Most impressive is its antenna, about 30 m high, made of numerous reflectors. Apparently this type of antenna is called troposcatter, but let experts say.

We made a great loop and at the end we were a bit sorry the path and day ran out nasmeh. We'll come again.

You had wonderful weather for the season. Apparently the grasses are dry too from the choice of shoes. But goals obviously don't run out for you. Congratulations nasmeh

True, we caught a sunny hole in the rainy period. Footwear stayed dry too, more by luck than smarts big.
