We had the starting point for the tour in the Val Aupa valley, about a kilometer further from the hamlet Saps. The signpost marking the start of path 435a is hidden left in the forest, so you have to be careful not to miss it. You can't park at the starting point itself anymore (used to be space for two cars, maybe three), because there's quite a deep ditch by the road that's poorly visible due to tall grass. Enough parking space is less than a hundred meters ahead, on the right, right behind the stone wall that serves as protection against flood waters. Along the nicely laid path we climbed through the forest to the Gran Cuel pasture, where there are ruins of an old farmhouse and a chapel, and a bit higher stepped onto the forest road. We followed it left and went a few turns along it, all the way to the sharp right turn, where there's now a forestry site. By the road and at the viewpoint, from which there's a great view of Sernio and Grauzario in good weather, there's tons of logs and forestry machines, so it's easy to miss the signpost (turned upside down!), which directs you right into the forest. With the princess we had to climb over the log stack to spot the path, which we followed to the pasture with ruins of Casera Lius. Here on the signpost there's neither Casere Palis di Lius nor Casere Turiee, the path is marked with number 434. We continued along it to a signpost a bit higher, which directed us left, back to path 435a. Not far ahead to the Casera Palis di Lius pasture. Also here only ruins, next to them a nice rest area with table, benches and shelter. Water in the well a bit lower unfortunately didn't flow from the tap. From here we already saw the summit part of Palon di Lius, and when a bit higher we came out of the forest again, also the summit slope of Monte Cullar on the left. At the saddle, where right below it the path to Palon di Lius branched right, we continued towards Casera Turiie and shortly before it turned towards Casera Forchiutta. A few dozen meters behind the water intake, where you can refill water, soon after the gully we stepped left up the slope onto the trail marked with yellow-white blazes. Through the forest we climbed to the saddle and from there continued on the other side of the hill towards the summit. To the ridge we had to scramble on our knees on steep scree, then through a tunnel, after that clambered over rocks and roots to the top. Since it was wet, slippery as a hundred devils on rocks and roots. Rest on top was intense, we fortified well and quenched thirst, then from pure satisfaction lingered a bit on top, lost in time and space. With views, which here in good weather are extremely impressive, we didn't have much luck, but still saw quite a bit and far. Descent to marked path was composed and cautious, then we almost ran to Casera Turiee pasture. Looked around a bit, I refilled water, then continued on the already known path to the saddle under Palon di Lius. There turned left towards the ridge and climbed it to the summit. No markers here, to the ridge path nicely visible and passable, then high grasses, nettles and thistle. Since ground very uneven, had to watch every step, especially where I had princess in arms. Returned to valley on same path, which mostly ran in forest shade, so sun didn't overheat us too much. On ascent things happened to us, descent passed calmly without surprises. Great tour nasmeh

Turbo's idea brought us to the Aupa valley, this time in winter. Start and goal were the same as described, but we extended the path into a circular variant via the village Bevorchians. Summit Monte Palon di Lius is reachable with winter gear, Monte Cullar we skipped just below the top due to dangerous conditions. Continuation on the circular variant is well marked and not difficult. And a curiosity... so many shelters as we encountered on a relatively short path and at low elevation, I haven't seen anywhere else nasmeh.

Coordinates of start (near village Saps): 46.493298, 13.202973

We parked near the village of Saps. There is space for only two cars.1
The direction sign is near the parking lot and visible from the road in winter.2
Chapel on the abandoned pasture Gran Cuel.3
Ruins of a farm on the same pasture.4
Beech avenue, planted long, long ago.5
We are still following path 435a.6
Pleasant path winds slowly upwards …7
… and with altitude passes into snowy terrain8
Alpine pasture Casera Palis di Lius. Water is right below it at the forest edge.9
More and more snow, path trampled10
Views above the tree line.11
Towards Palon di Lius12
In the background on the left our next goal … Monte Cullar13
Summit area of Palon di Lius14
Caserra Turrie15
The first shelter on the path … bivak Turrie. The entrance was clogged with snow.16
We continued right and soon turned left on the yellow-white markers to M. Cullar.17
The terrain changed towards the summit. There was increasingly wind-packed snow and avalanche debris.18
Progress was no longer sensible, so we cautiously bypassed Monte Cullar.19
Another shelter along the path, this time Ricovero Forchiutta.20
Interior of the shelter.21
Warning about snakes. Never seen from my side before.22
One of the saddles that we included in our circular variant. Here there is a fork of several paths.23
The next shelter … Ricovero Zouf di Fau.24
The interiors of the shelters around here are quite similar.25
Upstairs is a bedroom of dubious hygiene. A stick comes in handy :)26
We completed the loop following markings 43627
Not many people walk here. The path is poorly trodden and hard to follow.28
When we caught the road, we left the markings and took it left.29
View of Creto Graucario.30
The return took place through the village Bevorchians.31
Followed some minor valley walking to the starting point.32
GPS track of the hiked path. It showed 20 km and 1500 elevation gain.33
