Monte Torondon and Monte Novarza

Beautiful circular hike above the village of Lateis, which lies a bit above Lake Sauris. The peaks are located on the ridge between Sauris and the Val Pesarina valley. From Forcella Ielma onwards the path is unmarked, so in high grass and bushes it's harder to follow in places. In spots it's quite exposed. Descent along the southern ridge is very steep, easily comparable to Trenta pathless routes. Weather was gorgeous, no trace of the forecasted frost.
Warning that the road from end of asphalt onwards is currently impassable for passenger cars. So best to leave the car on the flat above the last climb above Lateis, where there's parking on the left and some tables and benches on the right. This extends the tour by about an hour and a half compared to our path. (we did the trip in under four hours). Nice, scenic and moderately strenuous tour, highly recommend it. Maybe best in summer when the road is better due to open pastures, and dairy and meat treats available on the pastures.
