Does anyone know what the winter room in the mountain hut on Uskovnica looks like? Is it heated? Atmosphere?

Yes of course - I'm interested if there's some stove in the winter room? On the PZS portal it says the hut has 28 beds in the winter room - so that doesn't hold?

At Oskovnica in winter there are plenty of open huts, which are more or less in private ownership, so if you end up without a roof over your head and a stove, someone will surely help and take you under their roof.

I'm interested if the gravel road from the barracks at Rudnem polju towards Mrzla dolina and planina Uskovnica is open or if one can get past the construction site somewhere?

We must praise the friendliness and hospitality of the new caretaker Mr. Janez in the hut on Uskovnica, enjoyed by every visitor. These are the right people for our mountain huts. We will gladly return (also because of him) and recommend the visit to friends and acquaintances. Posavci will surely come again. P.S.
Caretakers in Tamar should go learn from him how to welcome guests!

obviously on this forum you have to write only praises, if you just mention high prices in the hut they already delete you! unfortunately me and my colleagues will not come to the hut on Uskovnica anymore. mrk pogled

Well, prices are what they are. I was up there last weekend, and the price for veal stew seemed normal to me. Many could take the caretaker as an example regarding hospitality and friendliness. Oh, the stew was super, the walnut strudels simply divine velik nasmeh

Snowshoes in the trunk and direction Pokljuka. It snowed the whole way, so the idyll was taken care of nasmeh

Due to the large amount of snow today's Pokljuka was something special. There's really plenty of snow and apparently Mrs Winter has no intention of leaving these places yet. When leaving Pokljuka it started snowing lightly again nasmeh

Walking on such (dry) snow is really enjoyable.

Today we went to Planina Uskovnica from Voj. Start in Stara Fužina past Hudičev most along Mostnica gorges. We went on the right side, where we viewed Slonček. Then follows the path past the hut in Vojah and view of Mostnica waterfall. A bit after the hut at Mostnica waterfall, the path branches right to Planina Uskovnica. The path's difficulty somewhat surprised us. It's quite steep and full of roots and stones. In one hour and three-quarters we were at the planina by the hut.

It's worth going just to see the gorges.

The waterfall has plenty of water despite the drought.

The path goes steeply uphill through the forest.

On Saturday and Sunday the new hut on Planina Uskovnica actually hosted a course for mountain wardens. The hut is wonderful. Worth visiting. Both days it had lots of visitors too. You can sleep here in numerous nice multi-bed rooms. On Saturday there was the theoretical part of the course. On Sunday we went on a hike to Vodnik hut across Čipr. That's a solitary path that takes us from the gorge below Tosc. Some year it was closed due to landslides. It's locally exposed. On the most critical parts there are steel cables to help. This path really isn't for everyone. On the way to Vodnik hut we met no one here. Vodnik hut hosted numerous hikers who were already returning from Triglav. We viewed the botanical garden above the hut. Back via Planina Konščice. They don't graze here for some years, which is a big shame. Full of impressions, we returned to Planina Uskovnica. In both directions we walked together around seven hours. Both days we had wonderful sunny weather. On the return the sun was scorching. You need to bring enough drinks.

30. 6. 2022: Circular from Srednja vas - up Za Ribnico path, down over Lom. On the path we indulged in forest strawberries. At the hut express service, tasty food and friendly staff. Lots of visitors, mostly cyclists. Path without special features. nasmeh
