Nothing has been written on this topic on this forum yet. What is your opinion on the opening of this museum, especially regarding the construction costs (allegedly around 3.2 mio Eur)?

The construction costs of the museum are really dizzying, given the size - square footage of the house. The museum itself is definitely worth seeing, as it vividly shows WHEN, HOW, WHERE one hiked, climbed, rescued....zmeden My husband and I visited it on Sunday when we were returning from the mountains, we like itnasmeh. I think anyone can see it, even those who otherwise have no interest in mountaineering, hiking, where our attachment to the mountains is nicely presentednasmeh

I plan to see the collection soon, it's surely interesting. I have no opinion on construction costs, as I'm not an expert and didn't follow the events during construction. The building is supposedly beautiful according to various people, suitable for the environment and content, but to me it looks ugly.

The museum is definitely needed and undoubtedly a positive addition. I'll visit it at the first opportunity.
As for costs, they are completely negligible. The hut cost barely as much as one military vehicle that drives through Bosnia or Kosovo at our expense, those in Afghanistan are probably much more expensive.

Today I drove past the new museum and it looks pretty good. I went to bivouac IV Na rušju, climbed Dovški Gamsovec though. Post tomorrow, because I hung out too long with three Slovenes and two from Croatian Slavonia-near Sava, in the bivouac, due to rain. The older Slovene from GRS Koper served homemade fruit brandy from Primorska in between.

All honor to the enthusiasts who put the museum together. But it's clear they were left to their own devices and the museum profession didn't help much either. As a fan of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps I'm disappointed that nothing about the rich history of mountaineering in that part of Slovenia is represented in the collection: e.g. about Johannes Frischauf, Fran Kocbek and other men who did a lot to build Slovenian huts in our mountains as a counterweight to the German ones and marked the paths with Slovenian signs. In the overview of the worst accidents in Slovenian mountains, the worst accident in GRS history isn't even mentioned, when in June 1997 five top Slovenian mountain rescuers died on Turska gora. I hope they fill such gaps in the otherwise very interesting museum collection in the coming years.

It was said that only 25% of all exhibits are displayed at once, the rest will be shown during various thematic setups. The permanent collection is only a smaller part, otherwise the display space would become like a dump of old junk.

Definitely a museum worth visiting. I know you'll curse me, but it by no means deserves the name Slovenian Mountaineering Museum, maybe Upper Sava better. Well, the predecessor @herman already nicely wrote that except for events in the Valley other areas aren't much mentioned. Not to mention the rich mountaineering history of Slovenians, to which the museum allocates a couple of squares.
Locals would of course know to tell even more juicy trivia about it... even say about the suitability of the building itself.
