....Murnovc via Grajšca.... Forest road from Srednji vrh towards Hladnik hunting hut is snowy and impassable. Anyway it's officially always closed. Towards planina Grajšci lots of snow and without snowshoes quite difficult. Wonderful at top, views over Koroška, Julijci, Karavanke. Snowy whiteness gives special charm. Back via Murnovc below Lepi vrh, a bit on one's own and along Hladnik stream to hunting hut. Path descends steeply and quickly you're at the end. For laughs and good mood of others. Nice winter tour.nasmehnasmeh

To Murnovc via Grajšca....
.
From Sr. vrh the path to the hut is snowy and icy in places. But there are tire tracks all the way to the hut. Maybe doable with chains. Over Grajšca wonderful whiteness of pristine nature. More on the link, nasmeh good luck.

Majda, does the snow surface hold (doesn't break through)? lph

.... A bit of breaking through, but no big deal, no crust. On the ascent to the summit the snow was wet, slippery, holes formed there too...

... Time, where does it fly? Everything is changing quickly this year, the larches are yellowing, the forest is getting autumn colors and on Murnovc it's very nice.nasmeh

You can drive only to the parking at Srednji vrh, further to the hunting hut the path is deeply snow-covered. Up to here tractor tracks allow walkers to proceed. From here on due to unpacked snow towards Kresišče and Murnovc at least snowshoes recommended. In coming days even more so nasmeh.

Despite the sun, the frost preserved the white decoration on the spruces.2
On the flattening towards Kresišče.3
Access to Kresišče follows a pronounced gully.4
The hikers were faster than us snowshoers, but not all.5

Even with standard snowshoes there were no problems on the descent.14

We descended directly in the tracks of the ski tourers.22
The snow was excellent for descent, here and there southern crust.23
In southern crust, walking with snowshoes can be strenuous as you shovel heavy snow with every leg lift.24
A little more and the end of the gully.25

Although conditions from this post are no longer "current" as quite some snow fell on Sunday, still.. nasmeh
We started the path to Murnovc this Friday from Železnica, past the hunting hut among glowing larches up to the saddle with junction to Trupejevo poldne, Lepi vrh, descent to hunting hut below Lepi vrh, but we continued on the (marked) Alpe Adria trail heading north.
Path is well traceable, we met quite a few - mainly German-speaking - hikers. Trail later crosses slopes of Ostrega vrh, after small saddle Murnovc appears above Stara planina. Path follows to forest edge on its slope, descends to visible Maloško poldne and then easy off-trail in moderate slope to the summit.
On the warm summit nice views all around, Karavanke, Julijci, Klagenfurt basin, Grossglockner too. Returned same way.
Nice, not at all strenuous path; believe even in snow nicely traceable.

Nice autumn shots, Marjan. Not much missing to golden larches. Between Ovčji vrh and Dovška Baba steep little peak is probably Zelenjak. (pic. 17)

One panoramic app named it Palec, but Zelenjak could be too, yeah..

I was recently on both - I'd say it's Palec, Zelenjak hidden right of it.
