muscle injury - when back to the mountains?

On January 5th I was taking out the trash, stepped on ice, it pulled me into a woman's split and result: torn rear left thigh muscle (from under the buttock to the knee). After 3 weeks I could already walk without crutches, now it's 4 weeks and I have trouble walking stairs up and down (lifting the leg, bending it at the knee). The tear was worst behind just above the knee. Doc told me physiotherapy isn't covered, but I think something needs to be done so the muscle doesn't "tighten up". Anyone have similar experiences? Exercises, and approx how long till full recovery? To me now it seems I'll be happy this year if I climb hills around Lj. Best regards from Limona (formerly Anemone)

I wish you quick recovery so you can hike mountains and hills. But we must realize: ILLNESS (ACCIDENT) COMES WITH AN EXPRESS TRAIN, LEAVES WITH A SLOW STEP.

This can help: "come with me to the spa..." Otherwise, slowly you get far. Just don't lose the will... step by step is a few steps, a few steps is a short walk, a few short walks is an excursion, a few excursions is already a real small tour. Everything will be, only we won't. And hills and mountains will too... Successful and quick recovery and good luck!

At the beginning of January I tore the right thigh muscle on ice in the hill and at the emergency where I was taken they advised rest and ice packs. I did that for almost three weeks until the pain was gone and the bloody bruises too. Now after just over a month I'm already walking several hours on snowy foothill paths, of course with poles.

Need to move as much as possible, that's how muscles strengthen. Rest useful only at start of treatment, then need to move as much as possible. When I broke my ankle, three months later already pushing above Bohinj, later also to Kriške pode (though no very hard tours that summer season). Most important careful, slow and reliable step.

Turbo wrote best. Start walks right away and build up, but not too fast. You'll see yourself how it goes.
