Muzec (Musc) - 1612 m

For the last mountaineering tour of the outgoing year, I chose the ascent to Muzec (Musc).

I arrived at the starting point in Breginj a bit after eight o'clock. It was a little below zero, but not too bad.
After "breakfast" I equipped myself and set off on the trail. The path, which initially rose moderately through the forest, took me higher to an exposed and crumbly ridge. Crossing it wasn't problematic, some caution was still necessary. After crossing, the path literally stood "upright" and for quite some time I was "gnawing" my knees on the steep slope of the ridge. At the junction of the direct path to Muzec (Čadonova path) and the path to the Bivouac under Muzec, I turned left towards the bivouac and then ascended the summit ridge, which was slightly snowy, to the top of the 1612-meter-high Muzec.
For the end of December, it was incredibly warm, as the air was literally shimmering from the heat.
I was rewarded with fantastic views and if it hadn't clouded over and started blowing, I would have enjoyed the summit for quite some time. I descended to the bivouac, where I warmed up a bit and refreshed myself, then returned to the starting point in Breginj along the ascent path.

I had a beautiful day in the mountains.

In the coming year 2019, I wish you all the best and safe stepsnasmehnasmeh

When you go hiking, go, but we didn't reach the goal we set for ourselves. Weather forecasters promised partly sunny or cloudy, well anyway, we had thick fog, especially towards the bivouac under Muzec. First time I hiked here. From Breginj, where we went in the morning. Steep all the time. Here the world really doesn't flatten out. And despite fog, sleet and wet grass the tour is really nice even in such weather. Flowers along the path adorn nature, how nice it would be if the sun peeked out. But yesterday it wasn't to be seen. We were surprised by the orderliness of the bivouac under Muzec. Everything clean. No unnecessary clutter. It should be like this everywhere. From the bivouac we climbed to Gabrovec; the altimeter showed 1629 m. There we looked a bit for the path to Breški Jalovec, where we would go if the weather was nicer, but due to the too thick fog it didn't make sense to persist and we decided for descent to Breginj on the same path.
In Breginj in the morning.1
Renovated house in the village worth a visit.2

but the view is great.11
more and more fog ahead.12
which stubbornly persisted.13
even the bivouac was barely visible.14
interior clean and no unnecessary clutter or trash.15

it starts raining too.17
at the top of Gabrovec.18
we decide to descend.19
such views as if it were April, not November.20
during descent, bivouac below Muzec visible.21

yes, you two were at 1630 m, Veliki Muzec or Gabrovec.
Shame because of the fog, otherwise there are really exceptional views here. You'll have to return for the viewsnasmeh.

What can you do, such days are more frequent this year. Definitely again from Breginj, only at the sign left, where the mark for Brezje is. A local explained to us that you don't need to go to the village, but the military path leads to Nizki vrh and then to Breški Jalovec. That they have a hike there once a year.
now we know the way ahead. Left.1

Darinka,
at photo 4 you wrote that prayer didn't help. If next time fog again up there, go the last 100 meters to the top on your knees and maybe it will help mežikanje velik nasmeh

Yes you think smartly. nasmehBut it would be even better if you join me for the last 100m on knees. If there are two of us, he up there will hear sooner. nasmeh

I did one circular above Breginj ... I'll post here, if somewhere more appropriate, let the administrator fix it. Breginj-Gabrovec-Musc-Stol-Breginj. Wonderfully spent day in exceptional environment. Fourth time on Stol, first time with views. Path nice, decently marked, without special features and at this time all blooming, well yeah a bit steep, but when you step on the ridge, it's rewarded a hundredfold. Continuation will follow, I really want it soon.
Happy trailsnasmeh

Today I visited these remote parts of our country and I don't regret it! Beautiful landscape, friendly locals and views from the top worth the effort.
Start was classic: Breginj, first km along the river Bela or its cascades. The pools below them let me know to visit them on the way back...
Just before the path after the first km stood up straight, a deer with a doe crossed my path! Real beauties nasmeh, but too fast for photographing jezik
Well, then the path really begins. In the forest full of last year's leaves on the path and faded markings, it was as humid as in some tropics. Literally it was running off me. The steepness is just right, but I was running away from this humidity... The air improved noticeably after crossing the exposed ridge(let) and all the way to the top it was bearable despite the heat. Especially since there was a little breeze here and there. And good thing, because the steepness of these two km of path to the bivouac is quite a challenge for knees and condition. That really bites! For the start of the high mountain season I set myself quite a challenge velik nasmeh
Well, first a jump to Gabrovec, then to the bivouac and a walk to Mali Muzec. I was toying with the idea of crossing the ridge to K. Stol. But I didn't want to overdo it. Another time. The pools of Bela were waiting for me, hehehe.

Oh, views from the peaks: it's worth going to these remote places! Definitely!
