New forest road to Jakob?

Hi!
Last weekend I went to Jakob and was horrified when I ran into a new forest road in the middle of the path.
Overall stupid, everything is messed up...
Wondering why they're building this road, there's already one to the hut?

I was shocked today too looking at the mountain forest highway. Even more shocked by the notice on the way to Jakob and right behind the church on return that passage is forbidden. So after these notices we can't even go to Jakob. Somewhere lower there was a detour sign. The road really goes to the church. Is the whole Jakob area really private property?
Maybe Preddvor mayor should answer this, since it's in his municipality!

Mayor has nothing to do with it. The owner filed for permit and got it. Reason is forest management, the old "vlaka" (official term) doesn't allow it in her opinion. Old road will be closed.
Road for now ends at the clearing by the church. It was said they'll apply for permit to continue towards Potoška gora. Since above Jakob is Natura 2000 area, depends what Nature Conservation Institute says. No application yet.
As far as I know them from the institute and my contacts (numerous reports of new roads or violations of issued consents) they are typical bureaucrats avoiding extra work and mainly care about getting salary. Unfortunately.
So visitors can do something. Pressure local PD, PZS and Nature Conservation Institute. PZS has quite lobbying power but doesn't use it for this. Once again: sad.

For this forest property part I heard after denationalization new owner is some Austrian who wants to use forest logging in future and has right to forest, even new vlaks and roads with that.
Ownership varies. Like e.g. at Jezersko at turnoff to Makekovo koča by playground stands empty already assigned house-former old guesthouse to some Austrian. He was quite angry because in Slovenia property rights from past were executed so late, that as wealthy man he said: Let them keep it, if it was like that for fifty years, let it be next fifty too. Building inevitably decays at otherwise idyllic tourist spot.

Also in my opinion, this "highway" to Jakob is desecration of the hill itself. Sad

After a long time I was back at sv. Jakob. This highway is literally rape of nature..
In my opinion it won't be 10 years before it gets asphalt too.
Well anyway nature will return double at the first heavy rain.

The main argument of foresters is that forest owners can't live off green romance. Maybe hikers really don't realize enough that we walk on parcels with owners. In this case the owner is a descendant of the noble Ausperg family and yes, the whole area of the new road is in her parcel. Slovenia Forest Institute supports every effort of forest owners for greater exploitation of wood stock. Normal, but visually disturbing when you need to cross this wide road a few times. Hut keepers finally got a safe road, previous was on the edge of stunts in winter conditions. More worried about plans to build road further to Potoška gora. That's peace areas for wildlife, Natura 2000. There probably this road doesn't belong.

In today's world nature simply can't exist. And we all unwittingly support that.
