Yesterday I joined the Ravne mountaineers for the 129th steelworkers' hike to Ojstra (1577 m) and Topica (1649 m). The meeting point was at 06:30 at the bus station in Ravne na Koroškem, then we drove across the Holmec border crossing to Železna Kapla or to Tihoja, where the starting point was; before that we waited by the main road, where you turn left, for the Jesenice guys, there were enough for 2 buses. It took two and a half hours of walking to Ojstra, at the top there was a snack and photos, the view was pretty good, except towards the mountain tops which were mostly in clouds. Then we continued to the slightly higher neighboring peak Topica (1649 m), another good hour's walk. Interestingly, the peak is higher but not as panoramic as Ojstra, nice view only towards Peča. After snack and photos, descent to Sončna Koprivna (Koprein Sonnseite) or to Raztočnik farm on the Austrian side. From there to the finish or to Kumer farm on the Slovenian side of Koprivna, another good half hour's walk; on the way we checked out the church of the five faiths and rang the wish bell. Soon we reached the border crossing, from there it is not far to Kumer farm. Around 14:00 we arrived at Kumer farm in Koprivna (Kumer farm at 1230 m a.s.l., right below the 2nd highest Slovenian farm Jekl at 1322 m). Then followed lunch and t-shirt distribution, then a short walk to the 900-year-old Gothic church of St. Anne with the Black Madonna altar. In the end, let me say that the path is quite long but very beautiful and picturesque, the steepest ascent is to Ojstra but then you are rewarded with a magnificent view ; for the whole path from Tihoja to Kumer farm we needed 6 hours with stops. Part of the path, from Raztočnik farm in Sončna Koprivna to Kumer farm on the Slovenian side of Koprivna, we walked also on the trail that leads Čez goro k očetu, but now in the opposite direction. The 19th night hike Čez goro k očetu will be this year on 17.12. The weather served us well despite the forecasted showers. P.S. - yesterday I christened new hiking boots and must say I am very satisfied with them Photos: https://picasaweb.google.com/110923433743609005746/129JeklarskiPohodOjstra1577MTopica1649M11Junij2011#

Yesterday evening via Riepl to Topitza and on to Ojstra. Beautiful evening views to Olševa, Peča, Košuta and the entire Kamnik-Savinja Alps. Ojstra has a beautiful panorama, paths are super marked so I warmly recommend the tour from Ripl to Topica, then to Ojstra then descent to Woegl and back up the road to Riepl.

I was looking at this description Luže-Topica-Ojstra and back (circular), is the path well marked? Tomorrow we would like to do it to return to the start where we have transport at Kumru (or below at parking). Any additional tips needed? Thanks

From Ripl we climbed to Topica and Ojstra, descended a bit our own way on forest paths and pathless. Both peaks are exceptional viewpoints, but currently this tour is very, very strenuous due to abundance of fallen trees.

Topica and Ojstra and also the whole surroundings are in changed appearance. Storm changed nature. While walking I thought that hiking at night or in fog would feel quite uncomfortable. My memory of these peaks is different (before the storm). Start was at Peršman and there we ended the path from Ojstra a bit our own way. The whole loop is nice and pleasant for this season.
