Today we went with the kids to the Otliško Window above the source of the Hubelj river in the Vipava Valley. Nothing to add to the path description, I'd maybe just add that you need to take a few hours and warm clothes for the top. It was really an experience for the kids when we read the story about the window's formation. The "devil" was excellent motivation to reach the windows. Recommend for slightly older kids, as the path in the upper part is occasionally a bit steeper for the youngest. LP Andrej

We walked this path in spring and maybe towards the top you really need a bit of caution, otherwise pleasant

we also went to the Window from the upper side following the points that start somewhere near the church or in the village

the path is not demanding, as you walk on small hills and follow the signs nasmeh

Yesterday my wife and I visited Otliško Window, specifically from Ajdovščina or from the Hubelj spring. From the window we continued along the Path along the Edge towards Sinji vrh. Nothing special on the way. Beautiful day, with already almost summer temperature nasmeh

Yesterday on the way back from Trnovska Plateau we stopped in Otlica and took a closer look at one of our largest natural windows. This is the beautiful Otliško Window. There near the church in the village we parked the car and walked along the marked path across pastures to the window. We go across these karst pastures where some are grazed and fenced. We even come across gates about three times. After about half an hour of moderate walking we are at a neat panel and approach the window via steps. Caution before the window, because it's crumbly. The window is really majestic-as if a giant joined two large rocky horns and assembled it into a window. This happened really naturally, when tectonic shifts occurred in the distant past.

View into the valley. You can also reach here from the valley through the window. The path is steep and crumbly.

After yesterday's hike to Mali Golak, on the way back we stop in Otlica village to see one of our largest natural windows. Nice mountaineer's greeting.

Yesterday to the Karst area, visit to Predjama Castle and then towards Sinji vrh, where views reached the sea, then to Otlica to see Otliško Window too. Beautiful southern slopes of Trnovski Forest, then also to refreshment in Vipavski Križ, ...

To avoid bad weather we drove to Ajdovščina and climbed to both windows. Pleasant tour, nice views and bora wind that showed its power especially on the ascent to the nearby peak Navrše in the ridge of Trnovski Forest. Worth seeing. The arrangement of rest areas is praiseworthy. More at:

I have never, really never, gone to the Otliško Window from the Hubelj spring. The path is nicely laid out. Today around eleven it was very stuffy on the path. But surprisingly windy at the top. We also took a look at the little Otliško Window. Descended the same way. Met very few hikers.
