Over the Mountain to Father

On Saturday evening, December 17th, hikers and female hikers from PD Mislinja and PD Slovenj Gradec participated in the 19th night hike Over the Mountain to Father. Departure from Mislinja was at 17:10; on the way to Črna na Koroškem or to Koprivna, we picked up other hikers at agreed places. We arrived in Črna na Koroškem a bit before seven in the evening, where there was a short stop, then we drove by buses to the 13 km distant Koprivna, where the starting point of the hike was. Around nine o'clock we arrived at Kumer farm (1230 m), where we had dinner; after dinner we headed towards Luže border crossing and further to Čemer farm on the Austrian side, where Carinthian Slovenes kindly hosted us. The weather was as favorable to us as last year, also this year, since the sky was without a cloud; there was only much less snow than last year, and also less cold than the previous year, since it was only a little below zero. Next year it will already be the 20th, jubilee hike.

I heard that they cleared the road from Čemer onwards well, but it wasn't really noticeable. There were quite a few falls. Everything else OK. I hope next time it will be better in that regard.

Yeah, it was still pretty slippery ; they at Čemr said they sprinkled just for us, but it looks like there was no use from it, it was too frozen... And supposedly another 5 buses brought up there, but then they returned back to Sončna Koprivna because it was too dangerous.
I would scold those irresponsible parents with little kids; I was a witness when one little one from exhaustion was already throwing himself on the ground and blackmailing mom that he can't anymore... Mom and everyone around her somehow misled him and said it's not far anymore, he'll make it... Hand on heart, the hike is quite strenuous for the little ones, and it was a late hour too; blame also goes to GRS, three young ones from GRS listened to this and watched all the time, but not one even blinked, said anything to the parents or scolded them and told a few harsh words . Well, OK, so I'm not just scolding; then apparently one of them informed ahead via that walkie-talkie that they should come pick him up or whatever it was, I didn't follow anymore, I rather went far ahead, I couldn't watch that hysteria anymore...

A bit from yesterday's traditional hike "Over the Mountain to Father". The hike was wonderful and a real winter fairy tale, as there was quite some snow on the path, especially from Luž onwards.
Pleasant -6 and fresh air amid beautiful views. Food was excellent both at Kumer and across the border at Koprivna.
The event was excellently organized and well guided.
