Paths along the Karst edge

Print

Primorska invited with sunshine and autumn colors.
We walked a section of the edge from Cola to Kovk and descended to the village of Gozd. We intended to go to Sinji vrh, but so much happened along the way that we were too late. With the clock change, the day also shortened significantly.

Irina.. sorry but "mirank" has already written something to you.... this is not the karst edge.... The karst edge hikers tackle via various paths: from Hrastovlje, from Zanigrad, from Zazid, also from Črni Kal. All nicely marked on the map Slovenian Istria, Čičarija, Brkini and Kras mežikanjezavijanje z očmi Your walked section of the path is called somewhat differently.... no hard feelings!!!eekzavijanje z očmi

It's different - Path along the edge -, we went from Idrija to Cola. From Idrija to Hleviška planina via Vojsko to Golakov to the hut below Golak and on to Bavčarjeva koča all along through bushes, from Čavn to Predmeja also nice, all downhill, then almost no shade to Cola, we made a mistake because we went in this year's summer "heatwave" (about 35 degrees C and more along the edge), unfortunately no other way - vacation. From Predmeja to Cola half a liter of water every half hour. Don't recommend in summer - for this time it's a dream path for walking - to make it clear to everyone, this is not a one-day path, so there's no mistake

Yes, on the Karst we wouldn't shower, because there's no water, except deep in the caves.

Thanks.
I accept your scolding or lesson or whatever anyone had in mind. We walked along the Edge. It was nice and pleasant for us, even though the Edge wasn't Karst.
I would also correct the mistake in the title, but I don't know how?

@mirank 2.11.2011
Next time I'll try harder and won't bother you anymore with incorrect use of geographical names. The irony is even greater because geography was always my favorite subject. But apparently I didn't learn much about the Karst and the Edge. I'll correct the mistake and not repeat it.

Thanks to you too for the well-intentioned lesson.

Yes, you're right. The day still has 24 hours. But, in common usage there's the expression "the day is shorter" and then we mean it gets dark earlier.

The Karst edge with its sumac colors is indescribably beautiful at this time. Don't miss this heaven on earth. Photos are from the path from Sočerga to the overhangs at the border.

Well, today we really walked along the Karst edge and not the Edge. It was divine. Peace, sunshine and scarlet-yellow sumac. Some bushes were already bare, but some waited for us and we enjoyed their beauty.

Sunday, 15.3.2020

On the eighth of this month I was returning from a trip in my beloved Carnic Alps, listening to the radio and pondering the pandemic which was just knocking on our doors then. I didn't think the world would turn upside down here too in a few days. No other way than to adapt to the situation, so princess and I quickly made a list of outings suitable for the moment. We went on one of them today and had a really nice time. We started in Hrastovlje, walked from there to Podpeč, went there to the defensive tower above the village and a bit higher, then soon behind the railway track continued on the road instead of footpath. I wanted a circular tour, so took some road walking into account, princess too. We circled Jampršnik and then climbed to it from behind, then continued the outing on footpath to where we went "our way" in the morning. A bit further we greeted the little horses on pasture second time, then turned to road again and returned to Podpeč on it. Again because of circling, what else. To Hrastovlje wasn't far and pleasant outing soon ended. Although our path didn't seem particularly long to me, time and elevation measured, navigation app showed we did over seven hundred meters ascent in five hours and almost fifteen kilometers length. Didn't find asparagus along the path, locals said that something small can already be found. Might be for that and not only that we'll go to those parts again soon. nasmeh

LIPNIK and JAMPRŠNIK

I chose this title to wake it up a bitnasmeh
Jampršnik escaped us twice already, this time we said we won't give upnasmeh. We imagined a circular tour and specifically this time chose Zazid as starting point, where we were both for the first time. First we climbed to Lipnik, from there we continued for a short time straight along the ridge and after some time descended to the right downhill and around to direction signs which told us Jampršnik is not far anymore - 10 minutes.

Really beautiful this world on Karst edge, enjoyed also the drive through village Podpeč, views of course. As for the road there, less, because extremely narrow. Flowering trees already visible therenasmeh.

Osp - Socerb Castle - Varda - Črni kal - Osp (P3)

On Sunday, better weather was forecasted for the Primorska end, and also autumn colors we expectednasmeh.
Nice, varied terrain of the karst edge, with splendid views to Koper and Trieste bay, the path runs on tracks and trails. Highest point Črnokalska Varda, also just Varda called, there about 400 m. You walk around 15 km, elevation gain over 600 m, time for this path about 5 hours. We as usual needed a bit morenasmeh.
