Peca - very demanding route

Hello.
On Saturday 4.8.2007 we headed to Peca. We chose the very demanding route and I must say we don't regret it. The path to the wall climbs very quickly. The path is fairly safe, however you have to watch every step. It was very adrenaline-pumping and very soon I'll repeat this tour again. We descended via the easier path. Lp, matic

Peca - mountain for building fitness. If you head to the top from the former Karavla Terča the path keeps getting steeper and in 1.5 hours you reach the hut on Peca Then you can choose the ridge path - easy, or the secured one where helmet is also recommended, I've seen rocks flying down. HUT top - 1.5 hours or up to two, depending on how fast you walk. Also nice to visit King Matjaž Cave, about 10 min from the hut. Lp Izidor

Has anyone been to Peca in the last few days? What are the conditions like?

There's still some small snow at the top, otherwise the path is completely dry and snow-free. On Sunday I went up from the direction of Topla (mine) and then via the "very demanding" variant to the hut on Peca. Lp

My brother and I were also on Peca today via the very demanding route. First few meters still have cables then they disappear. Since we thought we had to go straight up the gully we got properly fucked up. The path is very dangerous, crumbly.... When we luckily reached the top of the gully, we then fucked around with low bushes to get through them. Wondering if there was some rockfall or avalanche there that erased every trace of cables and pegs??? Since I was on this climbing route last year and passed it easily and FOUND it, I don't get what happened today..... I'm pissed off like crazy

On Saturday, 28.6.2008, we markacisti had a work action. From the top of Peca we returned via the very demanding route. The route is nicely marked, excellently secured, no problems. You probably missed somewhere, just can't imagine where. I've walked it 50 times already. Lp Franc

Thanks for the reply. We most likely missed the route at the first cables. Probably should have crossed the gully and continued on the left. We went straight up (direct). I'll post some pics for better idea. Would appreciate if you can help find the right path. Also with pics.

Last year the same happened to me on this route. If it's the same spot, then the path turns sharply left there (somewhere at the start of the secured section), if not paying attention it seems to go straight into the gully. The path turns left before the cable ends, its end is attached at least 2m further, so if you follow it, it takes you straight into the gully. That's the part when (if you turn correctly sharply left) after a few meters behind the right bend you spot the cut-off steep slopes on the left side. Lp

I was on Peca 29.7.08 via the secured route, checked where you went wrong. Your mistake, it's nicely marked. You have to look, not just push forward. Lp Franc
