Pecol Pasture

For today's tour I chose Pecol Pasture above Sella Nevea in Italy. I started from home in Log pod Mangartom over Predil Pass to Rajbelj Lake, then at the intersection towards Sella Nevea. In Sella Nevea at the sharp bend by the bocce court into the extremely steep climb to Pecol Pasture at 1519 meters above sea level. At the top fantastic views of Kanin Mountains, Montaž.... From there along path no. 624 to Larice Pasture 1479m then to Cregnedul di sopra Pasture 1515m. These pastures are connected by a really nice maintained gravel road, which was snowy in some parts today. From there along the road back to Nevea Saddle and home. Nice scenic tour 54km long, demanding mainly due to the ascent to Pecol Pasture.

Today we visited Pecol Pasture.
We intended to go to Vrh Strmali saddle too, but hard-packed snow towards the top and roaring avalanches turned us back. So we walked around the pasture and basked in the hot sun nasmeh

Maybe not exactly from the summit, but around yes. The largest avalanches (as many as we saw from Pecol) went in the morning from Zabuš and between Špik Hude police and Škrbina nad Tratico.

Last year I went to Montaž from Pecol, then I treated myself to a bike descent to Bovec - really nice trip.
Now I'll whine a bit: Sella Nevea has a nice Slovenian, somewhat forgotten name, Preval v Žlebeh, or also Nevejsko sedlo; I'm really allergic to the word Predil, because it's nothing but Italianized Predel

Miri: Pavle Merkù, in the book Slovenska krajevna imena v Italiji, Trieste 1999, uses Na Žlebeh. Tuma noted V Žlebeh in the book Imenoslovje Julijskih Alp, p. 12, section Monte Cragnedul: "...and pasture 1166 m Nevea, Slovenian: V žlebeh, according to a document from 1582 also Slips or Glača.
Both are actually correct.

Yesterday in Sella Nevea there was no road closure to Pecol, if this info helpsnasmeh
