Nice pics, nice trip. But I don't quite get where you wanted to cross to Peski... Did you go straight from Rdeči rob along the peaks above Lužnica? I believe you didn't find a passage there because there isn't one, the path ends there. And it's very crumbly, as you said. Alternative is to branch right before Škofič, but descend to the path that comes from Tolminka spring past Lašca. By the way, what focal lengths does your lens have? Regards

Yes, I went along the ridge above Lužnica to Škofič and a few more minutes further. I know the path on the north side of Škofič, I've been there. Some time ago I looked at the ridge from Maselnik and it looked passable from there. As for focal lengths, I carry lenses from 18mm to 500mm to the mountains.

I believe you didn't find the passage because there isn't one - at least not without harder climbing. Easy crossing is from the ridge between R rob and Škofič left to the path from Leskovec to Lužnica, and from there on a less visible path right to the notch between Mali peski and Škofič. The variant Tomažke mentions means (at least to me) more height loss but of course also suitable for the same goal. Don't know which hunting path you mean. Last year when we returned from Peski we turned on the upper path towards pl Sleme, but soon lost it among many apparent paths; ended with direct descent from Stadorja to Sleme down a gully past the monument to the fallen AO army lieutenant colonel. P.S. this descent variant is not for repeating and I strongly advise against it.

I agree @mirank. Too bad that upper path is no longer maintained and marked, because it's more direct, and you don't lose meters compared to the lower one.

Start at pl. Polog and just a bit above the pasture turn onto the hunting path that reaches pl. Lašca. From the pasture continue to vrh Palec, Vrh Lipnika and along the ridge to Rdeči rob (all snakes fled). Then on to Škofič, from this peak return back to the gully, where I descend to the north side. Continue to Peski and Srednji vrh. Back past the lake in Lužnica, Pl. Sleme and via other pastures back to pl. Polog.

If anyone has lost glasses, I hung them at this junction.

They renovated it nicely, but previous renovation didn't last even a quarter century.

darinka4, is the path from Kuhinja to Planica normally passable or not? In Kobarid a month ago I got info that the path is closed (already for some time). Allegedly the only (allowed) access to the Bes chapel is from the village Koseč. I hope for good info, as these are your "home" areas.

Maybe it was closed when renovating. I was there for the first time yesterday at the chapel. Marjan promised some time that we would go see it. Never had time. He was there 8 years ago. Now we went part by road. Marked path all the way to the chapel. Quite one stretch there. Down another path, quite muddy, and arrived a bit above the hut at planina Kuhinja. If going to Krn by the usual south path, marks when from the first meadows you cross the road. Yesterday about five went that path. Even foreigners know the path to the chapel. Not my home areas. Quite far from them. Meant timewise.

Thanks for the reply. By "home" areas I meant that you often "report" from these areas. I know the junction above Kuhinja, but haven't been there for several years. Last time there was a notice that the path was closed. As I already wrote, I got the same info a month ago in Kobarid (Path of Peace).

Path from Kuhinja to Planica is normally passable. Over winter partly washed away, somewhat more worn, but passable without issues. There were big plans to renovate the path too, but not expected this year. Anyway, now no closure, no notice, no special obstacles.

A bit above planina Sleme there are two paths to Stador. Maybe someone knows if the right path is passable? We took the left one and reached a path that joins the usual one from Leskovca. We didn't know if it was passable.

We went along it at the beginning of July on a nice stretch and I must say it was very visible and passable in that part. But since our goal was Stador we turned somewhere to the right up roughly in the direction of the ridge. About five years ago I tried the opposite direction too, but the path soon got lost in the multitude of terraces that livestock leaves. I ended on Mali Stador and from there clambered down the gully directly to Sleme (very straining on the legs - not recommended for descent). Next time when wandering around there I will try it fully.

@darinka4 the right path is passable, but hard to follow. We missed the right fork going up - but we noticed the mark on the stake when returning. Above Tolminka Valley

Have you been this year? We two first turned right onto the path from planina Sleme. Then we changed our mind, because Marjan said that the shepherds on Pl. Sleme told them not to go there. To him and one more maybe two years ago. But there under Rdeči Rob easy access to Stador.
