Govnjač Pasture lies in the embrace of the peaks on Lower Komna, 1474 m above sea level. To hikers on the path between Vogel and Dom on Komna, Mahavšček or Tolminski Kuk, it is rarely the goal of the hike. So in summer mainly cows enjoy it, when snow whitens it, it is in the domain of skiers. On the pasture, remnants of the supply camp from 1915 are still visible, which in the 1st World War provided shelter to soldiers from the Krn battlefield. In the snowy splendor of the pasture I first enjoyed a year ago, when I set off with snowshoes from Dom on Komna over Konjsko sedlo and through Žagarjev graben to Ukanc. More on the link: http://www.hribi.net/trenutnerazmere.asp?slo=1&gorovjeid=1&id=5829&stran=1 The second time I visited it in white a month ago (description on the link: http://www.hribi.net/trenutnerazmere.asp?slo=1&gorovjeid=1&id=850&stran=15 ), and last time last week, 6.3.2015. A year ago there was more than 3 m of snow, so access to the pasture was straight across tussocks and rocks. This year there was only 1 m of snow and I headed from Dom on Komna along the summer trail. The first time the path had not yet been trodden, so with snowshoes it was tricky, especially the initial part when the path crosses steep slopes. The snow was quite soggy at midday and did not provide proper support. The second time the tracks of the predecessors were still visible, partly blown away by the wind, but the initial crossing was still not snowshoe-friendly. So on the return, instead of crossing the slope, I chose ascent on the left over the hillock next to Dom on Komna. The passage would have been quite easy if not for sinking into deep holes under the snowshoes that had formed under the snow. Otherwise, most of the path to Govnjač Pasture and the pasture itself is perfectly suited for snowshoeing. With pleasure I combed through the entire pasture and enjoyed the luxury of solitude amid white expanses. I returned to Dom on Komna just tired enough for rest in the hut's comfort and surrendered to pampering by friendly staff. The next day I continued over Bogatinsko sedlo to Lanževec and finished hiking at Hotel Zlatorog in Ukanc. Path continuation: http://www.hribi.net/trenutnerazmere.asp?slo=1&gorovjeid=1&id=577

This year, in such a drought, it's unlikely.

Hi, I report that on 13.7. water was flowing from the spring at approx. 1dcl per minute, this morning it's just dripping. @franca, the spring is on the W part of the pasture, at the water intake.

@plezac, thanks. I already looked for it once, but didn't have time for longer searching.
