Planina Krnica

I've had the trip to Krnica pasture in mind for quite some time and decided it would be just the right tour for today. At home I get on the bike, ride to Bovec; in the center right towards Plužna village. After 1.6km I reach a junction and turn right onto a nice gravel road. After 6.2km I reach the B station of Kanin cable car; here left a good km further and we have another junction, this time right towards Krnica pasture. From here the road surface deteriorates quite a bit. Soon I reach a nice viewpoint that offers a nice view of Bovec and surroundings. The hardest part of the tour remains: 300m steep climb with bad road surface. Once that's over, just a few meters to the pasture at 1240m altitude. Back I return the same way.

Last week I spent two days actively in Bovec and on the first day I decided on an afternoon trip to the mentioned pasture, but I didn't get there due to the closed road because of works and danger of falling rocks. Nevertheless, I did a nice tour on the slopes of Kanin and Bovec basin.
I start in the center of Bovec and head straight up the hill past Kanin village towards Plužna village. A little above the village I turn right and start (continue) the ascent towards B station. A little above it at the intersection I go right towards Krnica, but after a few hundred meters I turn back (road closed sign and noise of work machines) and return to the intersection. I go left and after about a kilometer descent I reach below the top of Kope, where the road ends. I turn back towards the valley and start a nice long descent, on which from B station onwards I get company from mountain scooters. In the valley I turn into Plužna and descend past the golf course to Boka. Here I cross the Soča and return along the left bank to Čezsoča. From here, as a reward, just a short but steep ascent to Bovec and back to the camp. Nice tour, but the heat took its toll and I was quite exhausted. Thank God I had enough liquid with me.

First time to Krnica pasture and further to the head of the pasture since we reached the pasture much faster than the timetable. The path follows an old mule track so it climbs steadily but we still reach the pasture quite quickly (the path surprisingly didn't drag for me). No more snow but there was higher in the gully so the dogs got their share. Avrikels are in full bloom and there are tons of them in the walls above Krnica.
The ascent passed in solitude; on the pasture zip liners were preparing for descent on steel cables. On the way down we meet two locals with whom we chat very friendly since we're all dog lovers so besides hiking we quickly found a common topic nasmeh Nice trip to previously unknown areas for me.
