Planina Suha - Poljana (Pot čez Glin)

Quite a few ski tourers set off today over Planina Suha towards Rodica.
We didn't have skis, but snowshoes, which came in very handy today.
Above Planina Suha we turned left onto the hunting path, which is well maintained, towards the hunting hut on Glin. Snow started right above Suha, and there was more with every meter. So we quickly put on the snowshoes.
In front of the hunting hut on Glin we admired the surrounding mountains. The sun started baking strongly and on the continuation to Planina Poljana the snow sank quite a bit even with snowshoes.
On Poljana a real little lake formed due to heavy snow melt. Older hikers had told me about it, but I saw this phenomenon on Poljana for the first time.
Descent to the forest road and a couple more km on the road back to the car.
Recommended when the snow settles or melts nasmeh

Yesterday I also walked the path that Peter describes. The path is really nice and easy to follow, unfortunately there weren't the best views yesterday.
Best, Tadej

Today we didn't go over Glin but directly to the pasture from the forest road.
From Ribčev Laz we drove to the parking for Planina Suha and continued another less than a km to the next junction. There was suddenly too much snow. Someone obviously tried pushing forward with the car but gave up after a few meters.
As soon as we stepped out of the car we ran into fairly fresh bear tracks. Too bad we didn't see the furry guy.
To Planina Poljana there was snow that sank easily. We didn't have snowshoes, but it was fine to walk since there wasn't much snow.
The pasture greeted us as always solitary and quiet and it was a real pleasure to spend a couple of hours in silence and birdsong.
Back the same way.

Peter, you wrote that you're sorry you didn't see the bear? Would you like to meet it there alone? I don't have such wishes! How long did the path to Planina Poljana take you?

nasmeh I know I'd probably have to change pants if I met him eek, but since I track him every year, I'd like to see him for real once (of course from afar).
Given that currently due to snow you can't drive to the end of the road, it's about half an hour walking on the road, then less than an hour to the pasture.

In windy weather the thought of Veliki Raskovec soon faded. So we settled for Planina Poljana and Matajurc's kot under Raskovec.
Everything is snow-free, just here and there snow tongues persist (remains of avalanches).
As usual in these parts: peace and bear prints.

Today at Planina Poljana.
Road from Ribčev Laz to parking under Planina Suha is clear. 300m before parking there's a group of fallen spruces, of course can't drive over with car. And snow starts right after.
Approach to Planina Poljana is considerably lengthened. Further on also some fallen trees on road and mostly quite a lot of snow.
Through the forest we slightly lost the path and found it later.
On the pasture about 1.5m snow. Snow holds human weight well. Even when returning around noon snowshoes stayed on backpack.
What the pasture always offers: peace and quiet. Nicely spent Sunday.

Today again at Planina Poljana.
Road to the starting point is normally drivable. During the week there might be short closures (foresters).
Pasture is nicely greened and flowering. Met only a group of cavers who found deep caves nearby.
A couple pictures from the pasture:

Maybe this thread is the most appropriate. Yesterday I went on skis from Ribčev laz towards Planina Suha, and a bit higher. Goal was the Čez Suho saddle, but upper part was quite hard, and I had no crampons, so didn't risk it. Snow actually good for skiing, but I fell sloppily twice because of crust. Caution not superfluous. With car up to 750m asl, then snow all the way, except a few spots with a couple meters clear.

Today at Planina Poljana. Road to parking for Suha and further is fine.
In the pasture snow has just properly melted. Early spring flowers are just blooming.
Otherwise peace all along the path.

We left the car at the parking lot behind Planina Suha and headed along the road towards Planina Poljana. Of course half the way along the road, then through the forest.
At the pasture cold and sleet greeted us, so we continued towards Gradovec. The path to Gradovec is impossible to miss, as it climbs straight from the saddle to the summit through cut dwarf pines.
Nice views and fog in the valley. We spent quite some time on top.
Back to the saddle and continuation to the Čez Glin area, towards the hunting hut. We admired the beautifully colored autumn larches.
The hunting hut on Glin stands at an idyllic and panoramic location.
Continued to Planina Suha and back to the car.
As we like to "boast" at the end of the tour: We met no one the whole way, only three hikers right before the car.
