Finally in Bc… I kinda had to put him a bit on autopilot so that he found himself not only on his "polygon" Morning looked promising and despite it not being "modern" to be positive these days , we were bursting with joy for something new again, something not yet hiked… we drive towards Log pod Mangartom, and in Možnica, at the start for Jerebica, leave the car. The noble tour choice was suggested this time by the only chamois in the group and I must admit he deserves a straight ten , although I'd never heard of the peak until that day . Across the road, at the little bridge left, past two weekend cottages where you could easily spend days, along the macadam road and when it turns left, we catch a little path right that (quite) steeply climbs. Sometimes it's less visible or completely disappears, on the way one little cairn, my handiwork and two arrows, key for the ascent. Well, we boldly missed one , but no big deal, all part of exploring. We turn back and soon we're on the more demanding part of the path, narrow steep trail with a fixed rope too, but partly covered in snow and torn in one spot, so we crossed that part carefully. From there the terrain eases and flattens a bit for a short while. Then a step up to higher level over an easy scramble, then the path continues along a fairly wide shoulder, more and more snow but tracking it is no issue. The summit shyly peeks from way back and with every gain in height it's higher and farther . Since we each ordered our own weather , we got everything from sun, snow, clouds and wind . Every now and then the Jerebica summit shows, behind Rombom with Črnelo, in front the peaks above Predel with all associated members, hmmm, wonder if they're from the same "household" to be so close and after a long time we peek over the planks… when again ? My companion decides before the summit to hold the scenic spot where she made a real winter balcony, we two "poked" into the steep slope, ufff really steeep, but the summit rewards with views and ambience. You can almost touch the wall and admire the world above... magnificent this Loška stena. We linger a bit, soak it in, test our peak name knowledge, then cautious descent to the balcony where a bit lower we snag a scenic "snack" spot and new plans are already forming since it's hard to stay indifferent with all those newly seen trails. Descent along the ascent route, though we found notes that there's another approach from the other side... maybe sometime Tour great, uncrowded, trail is or isn't there, one part a bit more demanding, especially now with mix of sliding leaves and snow, but definitely recommend to those seeking peace and off-trail spi(ce) note for winter ascent: recommend ice axe and crampons.
