Planning a multi-day hike in the Julian Alps

Hello,

for the summer I planned a week-long hike in the Julians without demanding peaks-as simple paths as possible.

The idea was this: Planica-Slemenova špica (or via Jalovec and Mojstrovka)-Vršič-Kanjavec-Zasavska koča na Prehodavcih-Dvojno jezero-Komna-Krn-Komna-Črna prst-Škofja Loka. Maybe to Kredarica in between.

One big ruzak on the shoulder with supplies, overnight in huts.

I'm interested if anyone has recommendations for the route I should take or some suggestion regarding huts for overnight stays and equipment.

Thanks for answers and opinions.

The section above Mlinarca to Planja saddle is anyway (very?) demanding, some sections in the embrace of Kriški podi and on Kanjavec are also demanding. The path over Jalovec is very demanding, over Mojstrovke also very demanding.
From Krn you don't need to go back to Komna, but to Razor and Vogel...
Good luck with overnight stays in huts in summer...

I've always done multi-day hikes in the Julian Alps in July, when everything blooms and you can still find a place to sleep. Of course, reservation is mandatory even on those days. big grin
On the other hand, there might still be some snow patches to cross in the highest shady areas then, depending on the snow cover thickness and temperatures.

Personally, I'd skip the first part of the tour due to demanding sections and start at Prehodavci or somewhere around there, then continue towards Krn, Črna Prst etc. With a heavy backpack all paths are harder (less agile on demanding sections) and you need more time than the written timetable. Especially for the first day I really plan only the approach to the first hut, because I'm still getting used to all the weight, then it gets easier from day to day and the hikes are also longer. I recommend PZS membership for discount on sleeping.
Good luck! smile
