Plešivec

Plešivec is the most easily accessible peak of Loška stena. From Loška Koritnica my wife and I climbed to the saddle Čez Brežice. The path is very nice. Secured section at the start with some quite vertical stretches, then a walk among lush gardens of alpine flowers, all the time views drifting to steep walls of neighboring peaks.
From the saddle we continued to Plešivec along a beaten easy trail. Views from the top are fantastic. Giants and sheer walls all around, valleys in the depths underfoot.
Strong and terribly cold wind deterred us from going on to Bavh and beyond, literally blowing away our energy despite being well dressed.
We returned the same way to Loška Koritnica. The vertical sections of the secured path were even more interesting on descent nasmeh

Some snapshots from this beautiful tour at www.petersfoto.si

There is snow below before entering the secured path section and we crossed it without problems on the lower flat part. Then another snowfield higher under the saddle, also not problematic as it's gentle and without precipitous end. Protections in the initial part are in good condition.

From Bavšica to Prevala dry, further snowy. In the morning it was still quite frozen, but later the sun did its work.

From Saddle Čez Brežice a bit around, then directly to the top.

Descent done by the ascent route.

Tomorrow, Tuesday 23.5.2017 I'm going to check conditions from Bavšica through Bala to Plešivec.
At the parking in Bavšica around 7:30. If someone joins me, I'll be happy for the company.

To the saddle Čez Brežice the path is completely dry. Snow still lingers on the shady traverse, so we went straight along the ridge over Brežice and lower on the unmarked path. To the top without problems. From Plešivec along the locally exposed ridge towards Bavh. In the notch between both peaks we left the ridge and climbed up the southern grassy slopes to Bavh. To the notch we descended the same way. From there followed a quite uncomfortable descent down the gully towards Lanževica. When we reached the steep drop, we left the gully to the right and descended the grassy slopes to Lanževica.
Nice and demanding dry tour.

I would go there for the first time. Has anyone been on this path recently?
I'm interested if the protections on the climbing part are in OK condition?
Any other peculiarities, problems on the whole path?

Today on Plešivec from Loška Koritnica. Protections are in good condition - so the claims I read somewhere that all bolts are bent don't hold. Also no need to worry about the "too thin" cable, as it has been pulled out. The place that this cable additionally protected is normally passable.
Otherwise yes, to the saddle Čez Brežice is half climbing, half jungle. The trail is well visible and marked. Really few people go here. The path is demanding, the climbing part is quite vertical, exposed, awkward (or I'm just awkward...), lots of scree. SVK was useful and I recommend it. Otherwise, they put a lot of effort into this path in the past, as they carved steps into the rock to the top.
The path from the saddle to Plešivec is comfortable, a trodden little path. At the top, a great view as a reward.
Along the path, at around 1250m, a branch (20m) to a refreshing stream.

24.7.2021. From Bavšica we went. I chose a tour suitable for the dog, as there are no protections on this path. To the hunting hut Bala the path is known to me. Further on not anymore. I was a bit worried how we would find the path where there are fallen trees. But there were no problems except some more gymnastics between trunks. Hunters at least, I think, sawn those trees that were across the path. Still, it was necessary to go a bit around on some parts. The path is nicely routed. Scenic when you come out of the forest. And dewy grasses. But no mice were to be seen at all. Not even snakes in sight. And I was watchful for them. On Jezercih, I think, a lot of snowfield remains. Probably until winter. The path further is visible and really stands vertical all the way to the saddle on Brežice. Four hikers went ahead of us. All had already descended when we with the dog went towards the top. But flowers are really plentiful in these parts. And you can't look at them enough. Already at the saddle the sky started closing. And at the top it completely closed. Then opened again. Two hikers from Koritnica were up there. I didn't imagine such a panoramic top. We stayed quite some time with Maks. Descended the same path to the starting point in Bavšica. Beautiful solitary corners here. Especially when it's your first time and you meet few people on the path and at the top. No wonder. These paths are demanding. But worth all the effort.

Some kind of memorial tour to times that are irretrievably gone, to people who are no longer among us and to those who are still here, making life better because of them. Also a tour to revive old wishes and seek inspiration to realize them one fine day. Beautiful day, what beautiful, divine nasmeh

21.5.2022. From Bavšica we went. Path familiar to both. And we went hoping not to turn back because of snow. As I didn't know the conditions. Morning was rather gray, gloomy. But around ten o'clock it started clearing. No wind at all. Quite some ticks though. Nice encounter on the path. A bit below the saddle we saw a snake. It let itself be photographed. Maksi just watched it from afar. Then no more on the path. Marmots could be heard. And chamois resting above the saddle. They were there on descent too. Still some snow visible where the path goes from Loška Koritnica. From saddle to top just one snowfield, which we crossed. Otherwise bare. We were at the top for about an hour. Great views we had. And company of runner from Bovec, Matej, who ran up in two hours. At least that's what he said. Then no one else. We descended the ascent path. Great tour in these solitary corners in May.

28.05.2023. Sunday day bathed in sun. Actually we intended to check the conditions. This year more snow than last. Now as it's melting, walking is quite demanding if you cross snowfields. We crossed some of them. The upper one, that under saddle Brežice, remained. I decided to go rather through grass steeply to the first rocks. There you can see how it looks further. We continued towards the top, where there is less snow. I avoided the snowfield. Because you can go around it. Especially if you know the path to the top. For descent I used the ice axe only in those steep grasses. Saddle Osojnik still has lots of snow. Low peak too. Everything full of marmots outside. They have their paradise there. No snake in sight. Maybe too cold for them.

Plešivec 7.9.2024) Saturday cloud games. Right along the whole path from Bavšica to the top. There we were in grayness. But no matter. We still stayed a while. In the morning at seven thirty when we started walking, mugginess was felt in the air. At the Brežice saddle it cooled down. At twelve we were at the top. Two new signs have been mounted at the saddle. One for Špička where chains start. Grasses were wet all the way. Still high. Even at the top. Nice tour where solitude is at home.
