Plešivec 2008m

On Saturday I had another hill planned, but due to a web of circumstances I ended up on this dwarf two-thousander, which you can't look in the teeth either. We started in Spodnja Trenta on the excellent serpentine 10-kilometer road, which was built many years ago for completely different purposes. The worst in its entire length is the first 30 meters.
We were lucky, as we soon ran into local Lojze, who with work tools in hands headed to repair the mentioned road. In a moment we agreed he goes with us, my memory of the route from two years ago has already strongly faded, Lojze is just right to lead us to the goal. At the 19th serpentine we turned off the road and continued past a spring on a path he made himself. After some 40 minutes of comfortable walking he showed us an exceptional viewpoint some 60m off the path - don't miss it. His path leads us to the hunting hut, which we spot on the left side. It is on a small clearing and you have it constantly in sight when conquering Trentski Pelc or Plešivec.
Since Plešivec is very little visited, practically has no own path, the scrub is a very bad obstacle. I suggest approach to eastern part of TP foot from here then right on grassy clearings avoid scrub. I on descent found another ideal direction, where I was at hunting hut in less than half hour, but wouldn't know to describe it. From here to car we descended all the time on road, which is very very long but also very comfortable. On this occasion I thank Lojze who maintains it, especially for today's leaders.

From Spodnja Trenta along mulatjera to Podskalar - Lojze, to exchange some news. Continuing along mulatjera to the junction of pathlet, which after crossing gully leads to Planina Stenišča. Continuing along left side of gully, over some fallen trees from winter avalanche, to next junction. Here right and along path made on order, for visit of important politician-hunter. Path leads to edge of Končarjev žleb, where exceptional viewpoint. Continuing to Stara Utro and further along poorly trodden path to Plešivec, which is also exceptional viewpoint. Descent back to Stara Utro and along path on left side of gully. After crossing gully to hard-to-follow pathlet, which joins mulatjera under 21st bend. Follows only loooong descent of mulatjera. Nice autumn day with exceptional views.

Started walking at Church in Trenta, a couple of years have passed since I walked there. Sometimes the path was worse and even got lost. This time the path was all the way nicely visible, traceable, frequent cairns, just a few times stepped over fallen trees. Higher where the slide downed trees, new "path" left through forest. At hunting hut take rest and look up to Plešivec. Need to be careful above hunting hut, as path ascends then levels, soon fork appears. Path seems to have been cleared of scrub. Even some old marks found. Higher path right through grass then up.

When you step in, then you know about the path. Yesterday we had nice weather on our side. We went from Spodnja Trenta. There over Markov bridge, where Soča flows on both sides of the road. Our path was at least once followable. We knew there would be Trenta slopes. It was supposed to be a shorter steep path along the ridge. Exposed places. Demanding. But with Garmin's help we managed to walk it. Sometimes climb it. Where you had to be very careful. Until we reached the upper path where they once built a mule track to Stara Utro. There a short break. Some foreigners came along the mule track, which is about 8 km long to the hunting hut. We three continued to Plešivec. Once marked summit. Markings faded but still visible. Up to the unnamed summit it was known to us. We were there last year. Further to Plešivec unknown. Path is visible. Some cairn helps. But it goes around into the gully. Steepness all the way. Tall grass. Some snake in the grass when stepping. But it moves away if possible. We persisted as the only ones on this path to the top. That it's such a great viewpoint we didn't even imagine. That the sky gave us a nice day. When dreams become reality. We descended for a while along the mule track to number 11. Then shortened to the starting point. About 1500m elevation and 13-odd km. Tour that will stay in nice memory for long. nasmehIf you don't make it first time, not second, try again sometime. It's never too late.

Thanks. Like this on old maps. How did you know?nasmehWe went up from Spodnja Trenta on the shorter path to Stari Utar. In the end it turned out to be demanding and the walking time was extended by searching. It runs diagonally from bottom right to top left part on the last photo in the post.

Once I scouted that a bit, but haven't gone yet. Otherwise I also go by old maps, but often on terrain I'd still need a crystal ball and black catvelik nasmeh.
You went the right path, there should be another more direct upwards.

Yes we went that direct up. Last time we went the right path. Anyway all approaches are known to us. If you're used to such paths we could take you along. nasmeh

Plešivec is technically easy summit and if the idea is to stick to the path, orientation at least in good weather shouldn't pose any special problems. But quite some elevation gain accumulates.

I park below at Soča, then up the mulattiera. It really is long (ca 8 km to hunting hut), but very fast and comfortable, so doesn't take too much energy.

From the hut upwards leads a solidly trodden path, on which faded remnants of markings are still locally visible. Somewhere in between the path forks and instead left (Trentski Pelc) I turn sharply right (Plešivec). Where the path loses in grass, numerous cairns help me, so I repair them on the way and add a stone to each.

Views from the top are very nice, but soon it starts to get cold up there, so I turn back quickly and down the same path. On the way I hop to the top of Glava and stroll to planina Berebica (sometimes Verevica or Veverica too), then it's already late enough that it's time to head down.
Along the path.1
The mule track is really long, but very pleasant.2
At first I didn't notice at all that the hairpin turns are numbered.3
Even after the end of the mule track, a nice little path continues to the hunting hut.4
Hunting hut Berebica5
The markers have faded strongly, yet they still come in handy.6
In the background to the right the summit appears. If you miss the path, a thrashing by scree won't pass you by.7
The first neighbor, i.e. Trentski Pelc8
Where the path disappears, the stone men are very useful.9
Cairns are there and in all the right places.10
View towards the summit Na glavi11
Jalovec on the left12
The only snow patch I met the whole day, so it deserved a photo.13
On the way down I also go to the summit Na glavi. Someone took the trouble to nicely renovate the path, so the summit is now very easily accessible.14
View from Na glavi towards Plešivec. Unfortunately the weather started spoiling.15
On the way I also peek at the alpine pasture Berebica/Veverica, then back down.16
Approx. 20 km and 1,650 m elevation gain accumulated.17
