Today on the wonderful viewpoint. As the previous wrote, in fog the tour is anything but orientationally easy. Despite excellent forecast we turned into fog above Vrata valley, which awaited us right at the exit from forest towards ascent on gravel scree. Fog does its thing and following the path up the scree where most well-trodden paths are for descent is quite tricky. Still we didn't give up and despite very dense fog found the junction to Mlinarica. Below Vrbanovih špic walls cairns in abundance and exactly where they should be. Once we passed this part which was hardest in fog, the well-made trail nicely takes you to the top. On return it cleared up and we were really glad we missed the views on the way up and enjoyed even more on descent back to start. When you look at the path in clear weather it's really not hard to follow. Just the opposite feeling as on ascent nasmeh Curious, since not quite clear to me where the "Za Cmirom" path goes further, as I saw several trodden variants from afar. Does the path stay right under Cmir, where it seems from afar to reach a big rock barrier, or does it turn just above the junction to Mlinarica under Vrbanovih Špic walls and climb further up that part of the valley? Would appreciate answer nasmeh On the way we met one single chamois. Beautiful solitary world!

LP,
Ben

Both variants take you up into the valley behind Cmir. But both have quite a tricky ascent on scree, so definitely better downhill here. First variant, where you turn under Cmir, is better cairned and that barrier is not problematic. Under Vrbanovih špic wall at the top there's also such a mini jump and above it you immediately turn right and find yourself on the first variant. nasmeh

Thanks for the explanation!

It seemed to me that it was something like that, since I remember seeing the path from the top of Cmir a few years ago. I'll definitely hike this path once, but DEFINITELY DOWNHILL velik nasmeh

Thanks and safe steps,

Yesterday (Friday, 9th October) from Kosmač Pass over the summit Pri Turnih, past the bivouac Pri Hanžku to Črna gora and further along the ridge over Lengarjeva glava, Požar, Rušnata Mlinarica to Požgana Mlinarica. Descent back along the path to the branch of the hunting path and then along it to Lengarjev rovt and on to the car.

The unburdened afternoon stroll (started just after eleven) through the friendly forested peaks of the first part of the ridge ends irrevocably about 15 minutes from the hunting path junction towards Rušnata Mlinarica. From there onwards it leads through dwarf pines trimmed who knows when, a well-traceable path that requires constant attention, sometimes extra caution. In reward, the visitor gets indescribable solitude and wilderness and unique views of the mountains above Vrata and Kot valleys, which the ridge separates.

Just before Rušnata Mlinarica there is a twisted cable that's been torn off for a while. There I followed footprints and scratches on the bushes to the right and quickly ended up in hard-to-pass thicket, from which I got out to the saddle. On the return, I climbed the little peak above the cable and dropped straight down to it. Further on, zigzagging from one side of the ridge to the other, drops to saddles between ridge peaks, once a bit of scrambling up a short gully with big steps and holds, ascents and descents through overgrown gullies and careful steps on exposed but bush or hold-equipped ledges. The path, especially to Rušnata Mlinarica and a bit after, allows no rest even for a moment.

At the top of Požgana Mlinarica I toyed with the idea of express descent via screes under Cmir to Vrata, but the hike to Mojstrana and then to Kosmač Pass (estimated 3 hours) quickly deterred me.

So I descended back the same path to the hunting trail. Along it, already in dusk, to Lengarjev rovt. Biščkov spring was much less watery than three days ago and crossing was no problem. To the car at Kosmač Pass there were still nearly four kilometers of walking.

Didn't meet anyone on the whole path. As noted in descriptions, the path in the last third is quite demanding, partly exposed, but carefully "arranged" bush holds are a big help. Seemed to me dry ones hold even better than green ones nasmeh. On the whole last part there are some cairns, for me exactly in the right places. Whenever in doubt how to go on, a cairn appeared. Poles were in the way, even folded on the backpack. In several reports I read the rock is crumbly, but yesterday holds mostly held well. But yes, need to be careful. Wouldn't feel nice at all if by stupidity I unbalanced some loaded boulder and sent it to the valley.

On descent I kept toying with how to describe the unforgettable experience on this solitary, long, steep and exposed bushy ridge. But always came back one synonym: primal. Let it remain so.

Yesterday (10.10.2020) also on Požgana Mlinarica like the predecessor, but from another valley.

Parking for Vrtaški vrh and Sleme in Mojstrana full almost to the last spot. Same at Črlovec landslide. Completely different in Turkov rovt. No car. River crossing impossible because it was quite swollen and very wide. After short exploration we parked a bit above the nearby house, crossed the small stream without issues and just a few meters later the main bed over a wide little bridge.

Sky cloudy, as per forecast for 9 o'clock.
Quickly we were on the other side of the described starting point and continued on the forest path. We got a bit confused and lost twice later. But because of that we had an even nicer day than planned. nasmeh On the path there's only one mark and lots of cairns.

When we reached the extensive scree under Cmir, the peaks across Vrata were already fully in the sun. Clouds were breaking up and the sky was turning blue. We walked in the shade, but above Vrbanove špice the sun could be sensed.

The first scree field was quite tiring. The path shoots literally straight up. Then transversely across numerous gravel tongues. Only at one spot caution was needed, otherwise the whole path is quite easy.

We stopped several times and admired the beauties around us. What peace and views all around!
Our second blunder was at the spot where the path or better said the scree trackless path turns upward. Obviously the sun breaking over Vrbanove špice was the reason we missed the junction or direction to Požgana Mlinarica. We plunged into the scree leading to the valley Za Cmirom. Of course it carried us down with every step.

Although the written description didn't match our direction, we continued. After three hours from the start, when we should have been at the top, we gave up. Finally we realized we were not on the right path. We were already quite high in Za Cmirom valley.

Descent on the scree was express! Feelings fantastic. We were a bit worried where we had missed it, but when we reached the foot of Za Cmirom valley, we immediately spotted the right path. There are even two junctions and we put cairns on both for the return.

Continued through the rocky world towards the walls of Vrbanove špice, then left to the larch grove and then steeply up to the top.
We lengthened the path a bit and after four hours of walking arrived at the top of Požgana Mlinarica.
Feelings at the top hard to describe. They were exceptional. The top is a wonderful panorama point in all directions. We stayed almost an hour on it. Time for photographing, snack and simple admiring.

Descent to Vrata quick. In the forest at the "critical" junction we put two more cairns.
On the whole path we met no one, scared three chamois, but when we were at the top, there were visitors also at Rušnata Mlinarica.

First time in these parts, but we will surely visit them again. Wonderful choice before the weather change! nasmeh

A bit late, but straight from the mountaineer's heart. Last Sunday we dashed from Kot to Rušnata and Požgana Mlinarica, expecting the weather forecast to come true, i.e. plenty of sun rays and blue sky. And of course, most importantly, yellow larches against alpine backdrop. But no bread from that flour, i.e. the sun didn't peek from the weather forecast. Fog persisted all morning right to the top of Požgana Mlinarica. Since we didn't throw the gun into corn immediately, for a few hours of persistence, when the last fog shreds finally dispersed, we were rewarded with sugary autumn landscapes, as seen in attached pics. Especially those less skilled in demanding terrain should think well if the summit suits them. There one has to grapple with some rock and pull oneself up hand over hand, and vertigo, shakes, fearfulness and other ailments dangerous for safe movement are not welcome on the ridge path.mežikanje Enjoyed Ž&M

Ridge traverse of Črna gora and Mlinarics. One suitable tour for this time. In summer almost "waste" for whole day because relatively low, now with higher conditions so-so, not fully settled snow just perfect velik nasmeh

By no means short and easy, but very nice and panoramic.

The criminal returns to the scene of the crime. Well, not quite a criminal, to be precise, he's just a passionate hiker who heartily wished for Požgana Mlinarica again. Just like three years ago, almost on the same day. Yes, he dearly loves those solitary, remote, and wild corners. And since those very corners are expected to become much less accessible to ordinary mortals after November 4th, when according to verified rumors from behind the bar counters and other official sources by order of the Kranjska Gora mayor a paid ramp at the Vrata entrance will start operating, the man, deeply versed in folk wisdom, doesn't rack his brains much about what to do. He knows that a missed opportunity never returns, and better a sparrow in hand than a pigeon on the roof, and also, don't put off until November 4th what you can do a week before.

So in this early morning he plans to drive his bike to Turk's Rovt, from where ski tour enthusiasts in winter head uphill toward Cmír, and lock it by the signpost there. The man intends to do a loop that's not quite everyday by hiking logic, but quite special, involving some walking and some pedaling. Something like that, just a tad less frantically than our heroes Pogi and Rogla, who fill the hearts of the land south of the Alps with joy, pleasure, and triumph.

Then the man drives back by car to Mojstrana and toward Radovna to the Kot turnoff, from where he foot-climbs steeply toward Črna gora. The collapsed hut at around 1200 m, due to which nothing remains of the trail, doesn't much bother the pathless-hardened man. Knowing all paths lead to Rome, and from the eternal city it's not far to home meadows, and that it's all just plain cat's cough, he scans all seven sides and breaks almost vertically past the sad wooden ruin on the right to the bivouac like it's a joke. There the surprise. Firmly believing he'd solo the entire ridge to Požgana Mlinarica and down to the locked bike in blessed solitude and silence on this working Monday, he's startled by a mountaineer – gosh, where'd he come from – who was probably thinking the same. As is fine custom among hikers, word begets word, and from the word flood the men quickly guess they have quite similar intentions. So they get moving and stride together in the same direction. Namely, one is Roman, the other Miha. Since both have open heads regardless of name, plus chatty natures and spare no tongues, on the path over Črna gora, Predelov vrh, Lengarjeva glava, Požar and across Rušnata Mlinarica to Požgana, as befits serious men and only they know how, they manfully opine on all things generally useful for living and being. Empty twaddle, favorite feed where feathers and beaks flock plenty, they couldn't care less. The ridge path is long as a spring snake, here and there a bit of rock-handling skill comes handy so the mountaineer doesn't tumble into sad irretrievable loss, but in such pleasant company the path flew by.

Though the men first planned to descend from Požgana Mlinarica each their own way, they agreed to take the same one (Planica – Pokljuka) to Vrata. After an hour and a half they reach the road, where the bike awaits one, the other sadly has to trudge to Mojstrana. Before going separate ways, the men shake hands and part. Miha mounts the bike and after a good half hour at the car logs the sausage that piled up to 21 km in length and a whopping 1587 m in height. nasmeh
