Recently, on paths around Mrzlica, we noticed completely new green signs and special round markers. Curious and seeking new adventures, we quickly found out who they belong to. It turned out to be the Prebold Hiking Trail, which goes over numerous peaks in the near and far surroundings of Prebold. That's also the starting point, and the trail is fully circular. So no worries about getting back. We didn't think much and headed out to explore the new themed trail at the first forecast of a nice weekend. Mistake. If we'd prepared better, we'd have quickly realized it's quite an extensive project. The trail is actually 32 km long and I could swear the kilometers inflated along the way . Exactly the same happened with the elevations, which piled up to a solid 2400 m by the end. That's why, despite an early start, hard darkness caught us far before the goal and we returned to the start like two fireflies . The trail took us a lot of time mainly due to the varied elevation profile and some pretty demanding sections. Among the most demanding I definitely rank Zvonetova path to Golava, which I can recommend only for ascent. This part is well marked but very poorly trodden. The main issue is the pronounced steepness, where you can't slip on wet leaves. Every fall means almost certain ticket to the back parcel. Better to avoid the descent especially in damp conditions. Alternative is the lower bypass that joins Andrejeva path to Golava. The next time-consuming part of the Prebold trail is ascent and descent to Kamnik. Ascent is still decently arranged, descent drags like a spring snake, in the upper part also on serious steepness. But this part is still much easier than the one described before. Besides, you have to consider the already covered mileage and elevations, so those without good fitness will have plenty of trouble with sore calves. If I compare the complete Rečiška from Laško, Savinjski Trail from Griž and the just-walked Prebold, in my opinion the last is the most strenuous of all three, though not even the longest. Surprisingly on the whole route we visited three huts and three bivouacs, which is rare. Hard to gather that many on some other variant, and we've done much longer stuff in these parts. In the end … Prebold Hiking Trail is long and tough and requires good fitness for one-day completion. But there are enough huts in between to split it comfortably into stages. It brought us lots of new stuff and special satisfaction that we managed it in one go. True, we took it too lightly and didn't expect that. Happens . More in the photo story … Coordinates of start (Prebold): 46.2358056N, 15.0934722E

Good job, both! I've walked various variants many times, but I haven't done the whole one exactly by the markings. Strange that no one corrects Adijav? You described the actual state of the whole path very realistically!! You can see you're an expert at this! greetings to both

Really hardworking both! Otherwise as Zlatko already wrote - who put together this variant into the official path and named it after Prebold

Bravo, it's really long in one piece. I prefer walking our hills in dry March and April, when leaves are processed and days longer. Those farmsteads under Mrzlica will sadly be empty soon.

Thanks a lot everyone . We'll repeat Prebold, but probably not the original variant anymore. But tomorrow we're heading back to those nice parts .

Good job. I walked it with a friend in three stages, which are very nicely planned. Each is about four and a half to five hours. I'm from Trbovlje so no problem getting to the start. Best, Nučko

Thanks, this year one of the tougher hikes, if not the toughest. On Saturday, repeat part of the trail to K6.

Nice views @seinfeld, if you have dogs properly trained and they have 100% recall, you don't need a leash, or rather you of course always have it at hand, but more because of other dogs and people I don't understand why you always butt into the same things, when you achieve nothing with it. Surely now Zapp will have the dogs always on a leash because of you and I likewise Maybe just for your information, and I hope this falls on fertile ground, if the owner has dogs unleashed in a natural environment, they are probably very well trained and taught. Because if not, believe me, you wouldn't dare to let them off, because the consequences can be very financially burdensome

In nature we humans are guests, we enter unannounced into the home of animals that rest, hunt, nest, reproduce, raise offspring,.. And two lively off-leash dogs cause quite a disturbance among the locals, who expend energy on fleeing and hiding. I won't write about other, much worse and louder disturbances in our hills.

.... I don't write about others, much worse and louder disturbances in our hills. It's true, I sign right away. The worst and loudest disturbances are impatient people, not only in the mountains!!!

Heh, I've had tons of comments about leashes in these 10 years I've had dogs, interestingly only ever on the internet. No worries, the dogs are well-trained, they don't chase wildlife whether we're on the Prebold trail or on the way to Triglav... And please, not about furry ears, sadly people surprise me more and more with their culture of behavior in the mountains, whether it's littering, destroying trails or trees, and I haven't even listed everything.
