At this point of the Couriers' and Signallers' Trail, the info board says: "The Pugled - Žiben forest reserve is a testimony to the abandoned cultural landscape that man cultivated and tended for 400 years and abandoned 55 years ago. Among the walls of ruined houses time has stopped, bushes overgrow the meadows, fewer and fewer cherry trees dress in white blossom of orchards in spring." According to other data, it has now been 75 years since life in the villages of Pugled and Žiben ended, as they were evacuated in 1941. The Italian army burned the villages in 1942. In 1936, there were 19 houses and 67 inhabitants in Pugled village. The history of the Kočevje area is interesting.
