Quo - Interactive Slovenia

I came across the hribi.net website while reading the Žurnal24 journal. I'm convinced that Quo - Interactive Slovenia is tailored to all active users of the hribi.net website. I suggest visiting the website www.kje.si For those interested in exploring Great Britain, the website www.mapyx.com is suitable. The guys have connected with the WalkingWorld web portal (similar to hribi.net) and you can browse that portal with the Quo program directly. http://www.walkingworld.com/home/index.asp?id=1&nid=612 using the Quo browser. What something similar could we do in Slovenia.

Those pages you suggested as "useful" will have to be walked a bit more by the English, just like us on Hribi-net and Gore-ljudje.

Serbian proverb says: "The path must be walked out". We all travel and each in their own way. I too used to think that one can go to the mountains only in Slovenian way. Today I'm glad to have friends for whom even ascent to a smaller hill means success, confirmation, joy, pride and a fulfilled day. And I rejoice in these differences. Every time we meet.

For Quo exercise I loaded all GPS tracks (there are 214 and they contain about 200,000 points together) and made a Quo project from them. It takes up 4.6 Mb of space. If anyone is interested, I can send him the project. I also made a screenshot of the desktop, but I don't know how to embed the image in the reply.

Make a print screen of that desktop then attach it as a photo on this website.

Thanks for the instructions. When writing this reply I don't see links for adding images. I see them only in already posted replies. So I'll post the reply first, then the images. We'll see how it turns out. In short: I captured the Quo desktop four times. The images show: * Quo project with GPS tracks, * graph of selected track with data (calculated based on DMR and not using GPS heights). * appearance of selected GPS track in Google Earth rotating inside Quo browser, * appearance of hribi.net portal in Quo browser. With minimal addition to the web portal it would be possible to display characteristic points also on Quo maps. That would mean: if a visitor browses the portal in an external browser, the existing portal map technology (Google Maps) opens as a map. But if browsing the website with Quo browser, the points are drawn on Quo maps. Here is the link for download of Quo project with 214 GPS tracks: http://www.globalvision.si/hribi_net/hribi_net_214_trackov.zip

Tell me if you know when it will be possible to use maps and data on smartphones (N82, N95 etc.). It was promised already for this month.

For Nokia contact uros.zagar@geonom.si ViewrangerSlovenia system (in English) contains the following maps: 1:1000.0000 1:250.0000 1:50.0000 1:25.0000 In addition: Settlements, churches, natural heritage (about 6,200 units), drawn marked hiking trails (same as Quo). With all maps and data together the system takes 1.25 Gb on the memory card. Works with external or built-in GPS receiver. Besides all goodies it allows dynamic generation of panoramic views. Exchanges data with Quo program using GPX files in both directions. Other devices with built-in Windows Mobile 5 or newer OS can work with Quo Mobile, which is an integral part of the Quo system. Attaching some screenshots for ViewRangerSlovenia.

Quo and Adventure Race Slovenia 2009 Adventure Race Slovenia is behind us. Two teams carried Quo Logger. We publish the track of one team that managed to walk, cycle, swim, rollerblade, canoe... whatever self-propelled means was available. The attached links speak volumes about the strenuous path. Hats off to all who dared to go. Available is a PDF document ( http://www.globalvision.si/hribi_net/ADVENTURE_RACE_SI_2009_FINAL.pdf ), made with Quo - Interactive Slovenia program and Quo project ( http://www.globalvision.si/hribi_net/AVANTURA_2009.zip ), with which you can view the course of the path in detail. Even with the free version of Quo in combination with Google Earth. As shown by the images below.

Quo and route planning to Veliki Vrh (1,764 m – above Trnovo ob Soči) For years we have admired Veliki Vrh from neighbor Štefka's garden in Trnovo ob Soči. This year we set the task to conquer it. Four guys, Branko, Drago, Matic and Dušan decided to use Quo program to find out if we are capable for the route at all and also tell the wives when to start roasting the pork. The first step was manual drawing of the expected route into Quo program based on 1:25,000 map and calculation of required time for the feat. For the calculation we had to predict our fitness factor. This is the time in minutes that a hiker (mountaineer, alpinist, "chamois",...) needs to climb 300 meters over a distance of 800 meters. Not an easy task, as we had no idea what our factor was. So we estimated it at 25 minutes, because 15 minutes is already excellent fitness. Since we carried backpacks and assumed the terrain would be at least partly difficult, we added one difficulty level to Naismith's rule using Tranter correction and the calculation showed we would dig into the mountain for 4 hours and 23 minutes. By feel we took 4 liters of water per person and went. We recorded the route all the time with GPS. We were back in nine hours. We were at the top, and somewhere else. The next day analysis followed. We transferred GPS data to Quo. To our great surprise we found that the recorded route matches the drawn route on the map very well. Of course we had to clean the track drawn by GPS of all noises caused by numerous trees on steep slopes and carrying the GPS logger in pants pocket. When we subtracted the delay due to searching for crossing over the torrent Globoščak, we calculated that we needed 5 hours and 36 minutes for the route to Veliki Vrh. The route summary in Quo program revealed that we walked 7.2 km, ascended over 5.6 km distance, climbed 1,465 meters along the path and made 1,319 m elevation gain. Backward analysis in Quo program followed, where we determined our fitness factor. It is 30 minutes and not 25 as we assumed. If our fitness factor was 40, we would need 6 hours and 30 minutes for the route. For fitness factor 50 minutes Quo program would determine that we are not fit enough for the route. Make such a graph also for Grintovec or at least for Triglav. Mountain runners would be grateful to you.

If you tell the course of the route (start, course, the goal is known) that interests you, we'll make it. The surroundings of both mountains really "buzz" with various access variants.

Grintovec from the hut in Kamniška Bistrica, over Kokrsko sedlo and left path to the top. Triglav from Krma via Konjski preval and Planika and Mali Triglav

Does anyone have those GPS tracks made? After updating Quo my hiking trails simply evaporated, I don't know at all where they are?! Link on the offered website in this forum part doesn't work!
