On a wonderfully sunny and almost spring-like 1st Advent Sunday, I decided to climb Rahtel Peak above Slovenj Gradec, the original plan was actually to ascend the highest peak of Paški Kozjak (Basališče; 1272 m), but since it was quite windy in the morning on Sv. Jošt, I decided to drive to Slovenj Gradec and climb the nearby Rahtel Peak. Description: The central theme of the forest educational trail Rahtel Peak is "FOREST OF MY TOWN". The trail was created in collaboration with the Slovenj Gradec Forestry Office, the Slovenj Gradec Hospitality Woodworking School, the Slovenj Gradec Municipal Company, and the Rahtel Tourist Center. The trail is 4km long. Trail visitors can combine pleasure with utility and get acquainted with certain curiosities on a walk through the forest, such as viewpoints and several tree species. The trail to Rahtel Peak starts at the parking lot near the Fecro industrial zone, right next to Gostilna Murko. The trail route crosses the abandoned railway track and leads through the forests of the eastern and northeastern part of Gmajna. On the trail, you can observe diverse wildlife, and from the top there is a nice view of the town and the entire upper part of the Mislinja Valley with the surrounding hills. The purpose of the entire trail is to learn about the forest, so it is suitable for all age groups. Trail starting point: Fecro industrial zone, Slovenj Gradec (regional road Velenje-Dravograd) Trail length: 4km Photographs: https://picasaweb.google.com/110923433743609005746/RahtelovVrh27November2011#
