Yesterday we visited the Tennen Gebirge range. Above Pfarrwerfen we climbed its highest peak and on the descent also visited three more peaks.
We parked in front of the Unterholz farm on a nicely arranged parking lot (3 euros daily).
We approached via the pathless Südostflanke - “Plattl”. From the marked path we turned at approx 1900m, parallel to Kleines Fieberhorn. First through Rumpelkammr (scree), when it ends into a smaller gully left and up to the end. From there up a dissected ramp. Higher there is a ledge right under characteristic slabs after which the route got its name. Up them and intermediate grasses to the intermediate ridge. On the “path” there are practically no markings, 2-3 cairns and some old faded paint. The route was supposedly marked years ago but then markings were erased. Now in the route especially in the upper slabs only nicely arranged anchors. After exiting the slabs still approx 15 minutes to the summit first along the flat area left and up to the ridge and along it right to the summit.
The summit is very scenic and spacious. On the other side numerous plateaus all the way to Bleikogel. Also some huts in this range. On descent we came closest to the modest hut under Mittleres Streitmandl when we crossed an easy ridge over Hiefler (2378m) and Vorderer Streitmandl (2354m). At the end we also climbed Großes Fieberhorn (2276m) which reminded me a lot of our Pihavci. From above easily accessible from below access enabled only to some. There the neighboring pathless Hochthron was also inviting us but it will have to wait for our visit. To it a better variant along longer Südgrat starting at Werfener Hütte.
We descended to the valley from the last peak along the marked path and after barely 8 hours and approx 1500hm concluded a wonderful autumn tour.
