Hi! On Thursday we're heading towards Kriški podi, from there to Razor, Stenar, Križ... The tour is two days. How's the snow above 2500m? Also, is self-belaying needed?

If going over Kriška stena, the full kit is useful at some places, but there are few such places since the wall is partially secured only with pegs, sometimes not even that. From Vrata or Zadnjica, you don't need it. Today above 2500m some snow fell but it will melt soon.

As far as I know, the path over Kriška stena has been newly renovated.... best, T.

Until today Razor was snow-free. But from today on, I don't know...

Some snow at Kredarica. Probably at Razor too. Temps negative at least till tomorrow, i.e. Thursday at 2500m. Safe trip.

First day recommend Stenar and Križ (due to snow), Friday warmer then Razor and Planja too. If snow on Križ can skip it, Stenar relatively easy access. Greet chamois.

I'm tearing off the 12-year-old cobweb on this title, though it fits least.
After Saturday Šmarna gora holiday, enjoyed nice autumn day yesterday too. Visited Stenar and Razor, if knew about this title , would've taken half hour more for Križ.
Shortly after seven free park in Vrata, few cars for super day. At 4.5 degrees start in shorts as temp rising fast (with altitude and speed) Below Sovatna scare confused chamois as five of us suddenly together. Two aimed Razor, other couple Bovški Gamsovec, I turn to Stenar. Summit incredibly calm and warm, if not planning another hill would've lied down. Descend to Pogačnikov dom, hang wet clothes continue to Razor. More crowded, met seven people. Due light clouds not so hot on summit as Stenar, below Planja saddle suddenly gone, long pants or sweater unnecessary again. Fixed ropes just below summit perfect (check yearly), no need step on snow anywhere. Second stop before Pogačnik eat all snack, below in Bukovlje fill excellent cold water.
Apologize to tourist couple, didn't know monument to hikers on path (now do) they asked about. It's five min from Sovatna turnoff towards Luknja.
Then to Dani for feast, at six dinner waiting home...

In summer I did a similar tour, just added Razor. Path over Kriška stena, views.. personally the nicest tour in the Julians.

Yes, Kriška stena is the law, also Razor and surrounding mountains, only the Kriška lakes themselves never impressed me personally. Before I visited them for the first time, I thought they were really lakes, like say Sedmera.
