Today again on a new path. This time exploring Rdeči breg which rises above Lovrenc na Pohorju. It consists of several peaks, the highest is Hlebov vrh-913m. For starting point I choose Lovrenc na Pohorju. Past the church in the village center, to the left past the school. The path descends a bit, actually quite a lot to Slapnica stream. Path direction is now slightly changed due to new houses and is nicely marked. Just a warning: halfway at Zg Dobnik farm they have a vicious dog running loose. The tour is very scenic and offers specialties along the path. From Sv Ignacij I continued to Glančnik hunting hut and descended another path which joins the previous lower down. Nice tour worth every step.

For real conditioning buildup I recommend as starting point H.E.Ožbolt (for knee biting).

I noticed the hiking sign by the road when on business trip for wooden beam to Vuzenica. Nice starting point but parking is a bit so-so. Or at the power plant?

I parked at the power plant myself, K.P.P. actually goes over the power plant bridge. Last time I walked this path about 3 years ago.

As Zippo wrote, our Pohorje is really beautiful. But I don't know how long anymore. Yesterday my wife and I went from Grmovšek hut to Ribnica hut. On this mountain path quads and motocrossers probably have their polygon, zipping here and there like world championship. Not mentioning the dust like Paris-Dakar rally. Sadly in Slovenia struggling with the problem of mountain biking in nature. But I'm not a mountain biker.

Maybe not right place but Maribor area in crisis people hungry, media say so, then hear of columns of motocrossers and quads racing on Pohorje, isn't that real luxury?

a bit "heavy" comparison you gave.. .
hungry and unemployed don't race Pohorje slopes imo, ride motor sleds on Smrekovec/Komna beauties and motor boats threaten swimmers on our short coast...
Those (crisis people hungry, media trumpet) don't know what's happening and don't join excesses of arrogant new rich or their kids...

Today visited Rdeči breg from other direction from Podvelka. Recently did the newly described path. This time only to Sv Ignacij and Hlebov vrh. Haven't walked such exemplary-excellent marked paths for long.

Hi, has anyone walked from Podvelka past Gojtenk along railway to old but well-marked path towards Petrov vrh/Hlebov vrh? Track joins Koroška planinska pot on ridge. P.s. Rdeči breg imo belongs more to Kozjak than Pohorje  Regards, Nino

Some yesterday's impressions from the trip Podvelka - Rdeči breg.
Snow is from about 15 cm in the valley to around 70 cm at the top.
The path is icy in the lower part, higher up it was deeply postholed.
