Some pics from Saturday ramble above Leskovca pasture

From Kuhinja pasture on Thursday when somewhat nicer weather was forecast we went via Leskovca to Red Cliff. There's still quite some snow back there but less than previous years. From the junction it looked ok. And we went up the steep. I've walked there in summer. When we got almost to the saddle the snow was more icy. Ice axe couldn't be driven into icy base. Ahead the last part to summit was same base so we decided to descend. Below on path five foreigners heading to Maselnik. Since we had time we also went up the steep to top of Maselnik. Snow here quite hard but crampons gripped well. Met one from their group who didn't go summit and waited on path. Quickly at top. Rarely visited. But spacious. Low cloudiness. Later sky cleared. Descended other side from summit and same path to valley. Needed both crampons. Also small ones lower on path because ice under new snow and slippery. Definitely interesting tour. When you see summit conditions harder better turn even if not far. This year had to turn several times but better so than push to accident at any price. Italian hikers not equipped for winter conditions and had quite some trouble on descent from Maselnik. But luckily all ended well.

This is how Thursday morning looked on the Kuhinja mountain pasture. Only minus 2 degrees.

Straight to the summit. Easily accessible in summer.

Spacious. We stay on the summit a while.

Descending. Carefully down the slope with small crampons.

12.10. 2022. To Red Cliff from Polog. Through pastures Črča, Medrje and Sleme. Then off-path over Mali and Veliki Stador to Red Cliff. Descent on the other side past Kunter along the path below Skutnik and Palec. Before Lašca pasture we turn to off-path. To the valley.
